Illegal immigration - a suggestion?

This country has their priorities all wrong. It is sad that Americans feel the need to lash out at these hard working people.

Yes it is true that a majority of the money that these immigrants make goes back to their families in Mexico. That is the whole reason they are here. What about all the jobs going over seas to other countries? And all because it is cheaper for those companies to do business over there. These immigrants take the crappiest jobs, get under paid, are under appreciated and get no health care. But do they complain? No. They go on working hard to help support the families that they left back home in Mexico. They work harder than most Americans. They help build our homes and schools, pick our lettuce and pack our meat. It's hard grueling work. They can't take a sick day or go on vacation like we can, for fear that they'll lose thier job. Most of these immigrants come from small impoverished towns that offer no hope of a better future. As Americans, we are so blessed. We are given every opportunity to succeed and then take it for granted everyday. Why shouldn't these immigrants dream a bigger dream for themselves and their families. Why don't they deserve a piece of the American dream? How can you deny that to anyone? This country was built on the back of immigrants....legal and illegal alike who all came here for the same reason. Why should we treat them any different? !

OR we could make them have legitimate jobs and pay TAXES and then the money is being spent here.

Sorry, honey. I don't mean to burst your bubble, but the government doesn't run the country. The people that own it do. And they want them here for cheap labor. They could care less if we live or die.

Taxing is not the answer. Government should enforce the laws by making the border secure, and penalizing employers. We don't need more laws (and less freedom), the government doesn't need more tax-money.

As to "work Americans don't want to do," I sure wish George Bush hadn't said that. It's not true. Illegals take lots of good jobs, too, such as warehouse work, manufacturing, construction, landscaping, etc. The way it should be said is "work Americans won't do for extremely (illegally) low wages."

If employers stop offering work to the illegals, then the illegals will stop coming. Problem solved. Then maybe the citizens of Mexico and other screwed-up countries will solve their own country's problems.

Anyone that comes to the USA without money, friends or welfare protection comes knowing they have to work and work hard to make a living. Immigrants like this put loads into the country and are the nearest thing today to the people that built the country 300 years ago. The country needs their spirit more than it needs the tax they don't pay from their often low wages.

That's why our legislators will never propose it.

I'm sure the banks wouldn't like it, since they make money from sending wires. they will therefore make sure it never passes.

Simply enforcing existing laws prohibiting employers from hiring illegals seems too much for them, so I assume nothing will get done to enforce our laws.

Some people answer you question so hatefully it's utterly disgusting speaking as a 5th Generation Mexican-Caucasian/American..I do however agree with the tax part maybe just a small tax-because there are a lot of people who use the transfer out of the states that are not illegal and to put a big tax on everyone is wrong and it will hurt Western Unions business as well

If they should do this I would hope that you are never traveling out of the country and have an emergency. You know like a car wreck, a medical need, loosing your luggage and need some one to send you some emergency funds.

Doing crappy work we won't do is a lie. This country survived 200 years without them. I shoveled crap, I worked in a lead smelting plant. I worked in a fish plant. I did what it takes to survive. Are you so simple minded to believe there are over 20,000,000 jobs we refuse to do? Come on! Wake up! Money transfer tax? Oh, there is money transfer tax alright, its funded by US taxpayers and you didn't even know it! WAKE UP!

The illegals need to be deported and the jobs given to American citizens. Then the American citizens would be making the money and the money would therefore stay here. Enforce the laws already on the books instead of wasting time creating new laws that the government won't enforce.

Why not make it so they can not send any money at all. If they can not send money back home, they might just leave.

I'm sure if they found ways to tax this, they would just find another medium to transfer the money (i.e. money order/post office/envelope). Perhaps we could require valid ID to transfer money out of the country or something but overall the solution is larger. We have to close the borders, and then deal with the residuals fairly IMHO. Then we'll have some chance of actually taxing them fair and square like the rest of us.

I thought of that myself, but a better approach wouled be to remove welfare (so ppl - mostly black) have to work; kick out the illegals to open jobs; now we know the money is ALL going back into our communities. Never could understand why we let ppl who break the law work in this country.

I think they CAN be stopped from comming here and we need to work on that. But as for your suggestion...sure why not...but all the crappy work they do could be done by the low lifes that live off welfare...
