Good news! This was taken from http://www.usembassy-mexico.gov/eng/eacs_birth_abroad.html so more information is from there.
The American Embassy in Mexico City strongly encourages all U.S. citizens who have children born in the Mexico City Consular District to register them as U.S. citizens as soon as possible after the birth of the child. Upon registration, the child will be issued a Consular Report of Birth Abroad of a Citizen of the United States of America (CRBA), which is an official record confirming that the child acquired U.S. citizenship at birth. A CRBA can be issued only at an American Consular Office overseas, and only before the child reaches 18 years of age.
Parents seeking to obtain a CRBA for a child must be able to demonstrate to the interviewing consular officer that:
* At least one of the parents is a U.S. citizen;
* The child is the biological child of the U.S. citizen parent(s); and
* If only one of the parents is a U.S. citizen, the U.S. citizen parent was physically present in the United States prior to the birth of the child; if both parents are U.S. citizens, at least one of them must have resided in the United States prior to the child’s birth. The period of physical presence in the United States required to transmit citizenship to a child born abroad varies, depending on the date of birth of the child and the marital status of the parents. |

Go to the US State Dept. site and look for "Consular Report of Birth Abroad".
Your child will have both a Mexican birth certificate and an American one. Once the American one is recieved there will be no other steps to take in regard to citizenship. |

yes your son will be an US citizen, but you will have to get your name on his birth certificate, then approach US consulate in Mexico and declare his birth;
click on this link to find the nearest consulate to the mother's residence at this page:http://mexico.usembassy.gov/eng/edirectory.html
then click back on # US citizens service #

A child born outside the United States may have a claim to United States citizenship if one (or both) of the parents is a U.S. citizen. In either case, the parents should report the birth to the United States Consular office having jurisdiction over the child’s place of birth (the US Embassy in Mexico).
To report the birth of a child, personal appearance both of the American parent and the child is required in front of a U.S. Consular Officer. The person reporting the birth of a child must complete an “Application for a Consular Report of Birth Abroad”. This document can be mailed upon request. We recommend that you apply for the social security number as well, to do so please complete the form SS-5.
The supporting documents listed below must be presented:
* The child’s Mexican (or local) birth certificate (or certified copy)
* Evidence of U.S. citizenship of the parent(s). A U.S. passport or state certified copy of a U.S. birth certificate is acceptable. The non-US parent has to present ID as well.
* Evidence of marriage: in cases where the marriage took place in the United States, the original of the parents’ marriage certificate. If the marriage took place in Mexico or elsewhere other than the U.S., the original document or a family book will be accepted instead.
* Evidence of dissolution of any previous marriage(s) of the parent(s), if applicable (divorce record or decree). The original or a certified copy is required.
* Physical Presence Sheet (available at the Consular Section), relative to the American parent’s precise periods of residence in and out of the United States.
* Affidavit of Paternity, in case the child was born out of wedlock to a U.S. citizen father who, after the child’s birth, married the alien mother.
For all documents in a language other than English or Spanish, an English translation may be required. Original documents will be returned, with the exception of the child’s Mexican birth certificate, which will be retained by the Consular Officer for transmittal to the Department of State where your child’s birth will be permanently registered.
The fee is $65 |

Yes, although it would be a lot easier if you were married.
You will have to go to the closest US Consulate in Mexico and file a Consular Report of Birth Abroad. Since the birth is out of wedlock, and you are the father, it will greatly complicate things and extra paperwork will be required from you. DNA testing of both you and the child could also be required to establish paternity.
If you were married all you'd need is the birth certificate, your US Passport and the marriage certificate.
After your Consular Report of Birth Abroad is accepted and approved the baby will be issued a US Passport and Social Security Card. |

i've heard of a similar case at my job, the mother was american and gave birth in peru the baby was consider american because of the mom of course they had to file some sort of paper work and come back to the US. Now I don't know how will it work with your case if your fiance is allowed in the US then you should be fine but if she isn't they won't allow you to bring the child over without her unless she gives up her parental rights. You should go to where yu file for a traveling visa and ask them about it every country has different laws and regulations |

Tricky situation. You can register the child as an American citizen but Mexico doesn't allow dual citizenship. Therefore s/he would lose Mexican citizenship. You can then go and get the child Mexican nationality (not the same but similar). |

No he will be considered mexican american... for him to go over to the states you would have to marry her. |

She really needs to have the child in America. You certainly do have rights to the child, and they may well have duel citizenship. This is where money and good parenting come in. |

Well... if you go to Mexico for the birth you can say she had birth in Mexico and take the baby back quickly. However, if you're not there and she is not a citizen or resident then it will be a Mexican Citizen. Is your fiance legally able to be in America? |
