Who says that you can't have your own opinion? However, common sense should tell you that when you are dealing with a subject as sensitive as the immigration issue that your former allies will become your foes. Personal attacks occur on both sides of the debate, but don't let it deter you from your opinion.

Because despite the fact that America is a nation created on the backs of Immigrants (legal or not), todays society does not like to see anyone else get ahead or do better than themselves. It is easier to blame not getting a job because the immigrants took it rather than a lack of education or motivation. A lack of self responsibility.

I agree with the first person that answered your question, everyone has a right to be here trying to make a better life for themselves just as much as the next guy does, we are all illegal immigrants unless you are a native american, this land is your land, this land is my land, till we die anyways, then it's the next guys, learn to share people

Are you illegal if you mortgage your future on a 30-day boat trip to a land you've never seen, stand with hundreds of thousands of your closest friends, have your family name of 300+ years respelled by an overworked immigration official, endure the rankest conditions our major cities could find for you, and scratch, claw, kick, bite, and maybe double-deal to make something of yourself? Because except for slaves, that's how most Americans from 1840 on did it-- they went through the process. The difference now is that most supporters of illegal immigration turn a blind eye to the fact that these people-- while they may deserve the same chance at success and self-respect legal Americans have-- did not go, and have not gone, through the process.

The decision to support or resist illegal immigration breaks this way: If I break into your house at 2am and take your stuff, have I "earned" it, or "stolen" it? If you willfully cheat your way into Harvard, should they give you a degree with honors becaue you showed up?

Have your own opinions. That's what makes America America. But know that whenever you pick a side, whether in dodgeball or politics, you implicitly allow yourself to be both befriended and targeted.

You can believe whatever you want to, but I'm sure you will loose a lot of friends. This is a strong subject, what made you change, did you get a new boyfriend. You'll probably have to make a lot of new friends, with illegals most likely. "Birds of a feather, flock together".

Maybe it's that "I" word....you know.....ILLEGAL. Most people tend to look down on crime. Can I ask....do you support other criminals? I wouldn't have a beef with you if it were not for the illegal fact. Do you support theifs and child molesters with equal vigor? Let me guess, you believe all illegal should have amnesty as well. Where do we draw the line? Can we open the prisons and give everyone amnesty or is it that all criminals are not equal? I have nothing against immigration but when it is illegal it is illegal plain and simple.

It's because most of the people you used to side on were misguided . they believe that the illegal immigrants are taking something from them while they are not . they pay taxes , they do jobs that others don't want , they contribute, and without them the us would falter .

The problem with people is that they believe in different peoples opinion... Just as long as they are the same as their own. But because you were opinionated against illegal immigration, and now you're for it, they may be upset that you have changed your mind. The stronger that they are going to feel again illegal immigration, the stronger they are going to feel against your opinion.

People, she isn't condeming her old friends for still having their beliefs, all she's asking is why her friends turn their backs on her just for having a different opinion!
There are a lot of reasons why people are against illegal immigration, there's also a lot of reasons to be sympathetic for the illegal immigrants. Good for you for actually taking a serious look at it instead of just focusing on the cons.
White Americans mainly came over with the English, The African-Americans although their migration is conflicted, came from Africa. Unless you are 100% NATIVE American, at some point on your blood line, you migrated to America. The laws have changed since then, but why condem this girl just for voicing her opinion. By all means disagree with it if you really wish, but that doesn't make her a fool or a lier, you just can't help how you feel about a topic.

Well, it's that you're equating illegal immigration with a Christian term. "Born again" denotes that you were blind before (thus, your friends are blind) and now you can "see".

I salute your sympathy for the hardships many illegal immigrants suffer. However, I encourage you to explore the social impact and economic impact illegal immigration is having on our country. You don't have to claim one "side" or the other. You can have a positive and a negative opinion on the matter at the same time.

Do you want to go to college? Are you aware that illegal immigrants now enjoy residential status when paying tuition? If you go to an out-of-state college, you'll be paying hundreds per credit, when an illegal immigrant is paying $18 per credit.

Do you have gangs in your neighborhood? Do you have to live in a gated community? Mexican gangs are enjoying more influence and freedom in coming here. They've brought violence and drug trafficking with them, too.

For all of you that like stealing identities, don't you realize that the profiles don't match and that is a dead give away? Anyone that has been on this site for awhile will know this isn't the real "seal".
