So my question is i came to the United States when i was about 3 years old,and now im about 16 about to be 17 years old well my question is this week i have an appointment with a lawyer and so i should be getting my papers soon about how long is it gonna take for things to go through and m get my residence card?

Okay here's some more details my mother got married to a american citizen so her papers are under works that gives her the chance to help me out to file and the im getting an immigration attorney because they can help me get through this faster,as long as you pay the cost you go back to mexico to file for your residence in the U.S for the most part they accept it or deny if you have no legitiment reason to come back,
in my case i do i was forced here when i was younger and i plan to attend school here.

Well, there's no real information above that would allow anyone to answer. Did you originally come on some sort of visa? How are you qualifying for a residence card? |

Being here illegally all this time makes me wonder what basis an attorney is thinking he will get you a resident care. I would think you have to go back to your own country and apply to come back here legally. |

If you didn't have any status, I doubt that you will ever get Permanent Resident Status. |
