Immigration- common law partner?

12 months of living together- what does this mean?

Can there be breaks for vacation or does it have to be 365 days exactly together?

It means exactly nothing for immigration purposes.

In the US, only 11 states even recognize common law marriage at all.

you have been living together in a conjugal relationship for at least one year in a continuous 12-month period that was not interrupted. (You are allowed short absences for business travel or family reasons, however.)

I am assuming this is for Canada because they require 12 months exactly and because USA does NOT allow common-law families to immigrate.
