We need a wall and we need to enforce our current immigration laws in hiring them.
We also can not allow them to pass an amnesty of we will have 100 million more people in this country within 20 yrs due to family unification/chain migration turning the USA into a third world country. Check it out at The Heritage Foundation.

um... ur not exactly the sharpest crayon in the box. The point of our government is that it is supposed to represent us. Many many people feel that as a country of immigrants, we have a responisiblity to others. Therfore, the wall is being delayed so the gov can figure it out.

In addition, it will be very expensive. It will be your money as a taxpayer that goes toward it.

America runs on illegal immigrants. We say we dont like them, but without them our entire economy would crumble. horribly. every person would be affected.

We have an amazing country, but what exactly did you do to make it amazing? You are here by chance and they are there by chance. Its not fair, you did ntohign better than them to deserve it, and like someone up there said- at least they are willing to work.

Some of them are fleeing horrible poverty, death, sickness and terror. Why shouldn't they have a chance at happiness?

Building a wall is symbolic to what the U.S. and democracy is against. We cannot preach freedom to Irak and other countries if we have a philosophy of walls? Get the message this sends out? People's opinions have stopped the government from letting more illegals in but as you know, you can control just about anything except the weather and humans.

We as a sovereign nation have the right to build a wall and protect our border and our citizens. The problem is corporate America has their hand in the back pocket of our elected officials. They want cheap labor, they want more profits. Build the wall and raise the minimum wage so that Americans that are here legally can earn a living wage.

Well they just sent the national guard down there, so I think it will stop illegal immigration for now.

Even if they built a wall 100 feet high to stretch across the entire length of the border, which is 10,301,280 feet; it wouldn't stop desperate people from entering our country. A wall is no solution. Changing the way people can enter our country could. Right now if a Mexican wanted to enter this country legally he would have to either be wealthy, have legal family already here or be very well educated. But Mexico is a very impoverished place, and that is a very high expectation to place on people.

My grandfather came to America from Ireland, he was dirt poor and had only an elementary education. But he was allowed to come. It makes you wonder what is the problem now?

People are so desperate to feed their families that they will risk death to enter American illegally. I think that it is America's fault for every letting them in, but a wall will not fix that.

Mexico doesn't want a wall because it will stop illegal immigrants which both would mean Mexico would have to support them and would stop a huge source of funding to Mexico.

Also, a wall feels nasty.

They are not actually proposing a wall, though. It would be a series of 'smart' fences in high traffic and urban areas combined with sensors, greater staffing and training of the border patrol, and unmanned aircraft patrols. I am all for it. Bush said he was too, but I think to him the guest worker program has higher priority.

That is true. In California on Monday May 15, 2006 they poured cement in tunnel that was on the border to stop them coming in.

You people all think alike, without the possibility of ever considering what would happen if there were no illegal immigrants in this country. tell me something about this so-called plan of building a wall, a country like the US without illegal immigrants, would you consider working for an employer that would send you down to the deepest of stinkholes to clean a rat-infested sewer, stinking with human waste, for a measely $5 dollars an hour? think again hypocrites. your opinions are worth less than the job i just mentioned. and what does that tell about your character? its even worse than that stinkhole i just mentioned. think first before talking, consider what would happen if you were in their position, you people are just arrogant self-absorb and selfish and dumb.
