Immigration enforcement supporters are being accused of being racist. Your view?

Additional Details Good point, Yuba. I think the reason Mexico takes a double hit on the illegal immigration issue is because the majority of the illegal aliens ARE from Mexico. Nonetheless, it's very astute to point out that the issue is not CONFINED to Mexico, by any means...I read there's illegals from Russia, China, from lots of different places...

The pro-illegal folks use terms like "racist" because it closes dialog. It's simply a way to demonize those who don't share their beliefs and put a stop to the conversation when they don't have any good answers. |

No, we are not racist, we just want to protect our borders, and enforce the laws. |
|

Hold em Rox.

I will admit there are some racists, but for the majority I would call them concerned citizens.
There is NOTHING racist about wanting immigrants to go thru the proper procedures. We have those procedures for a reason. To those who scream racist/racism, I suggest they look up the definition.
Maybe save the race card for a real racist...KKK, La Raza, Mecha, Mexica-Movement etc.
BTW I have been called racist by some users on here, but I seriously do not know where I have said anything racist.......... |

Not racist, and it is our Right to enforce our laws!
By enforcing our laws we are determining what kind of Nation we want to be.
LEGAL OR LEAVE! |

I don't understand how it is racist to be against all illegal immigrants. If people are just saying no to Mexicans or one specific group then yes, they are racist. However, most (I would go so far as to say 98%) of those who support immigration enforcement support it for ALL immigrants who enter this country illegally be they from Mexico, Guatemala, Russia, China, etc.
Is it racist to enforce speeding laws? Or vandalism laws? Or tax laws? As a sovereign nation, and as that nations citizens, we have a DUTY to enforce our laws. All of them. On all peoples. |

It should be seen as a national issue instead of a cultural one. The root of this is in the Mexican Government and not its people. Those people are so close to a county that is so wondeful in their eyes where good opportunity is so possible, but they are still illegal anyway you look at it. If Mexico was a better place to live, there wouldn't be so much of this. |

We both know that is BS. Just look at the source. We aren't talking about the most intelligent people here who are doing the accusing. Like I have said before, patriot means racist to them. They don't know the real meaning of the word "racist". It's too bad that there are people who say that they are Americans, and they know who they are, who also back these criminals up and go against their own. They are the worst, saying the same lame brained things. |

Not racist, Illegals are criminals no matter what race they are. |

Racist only if they insist on removing a certain group of people. Most I would say are not because most supporters say the same thing and that is it is ok to be here if you came legally. I support immigration enforcement on all illegals no matter where they came from. |

I dont think its racist, I understand that laws should be followed and enforced and those breaking them should be punished. But shouldnt that apply to everyone, including those violating the most minor of laws such as jaywalking, or running a red light because there are no cops in sight. Dont get me wrong (as so many like to jump on this point) I feel illegals should be deported and repeat violators fined, as well as the landlords who rent to them and employers who hire them. BUT I also feel that while people like to emphasize the negativity caused by their presence here, and Im not saying there are setback to that, we must also admit that there are those willing to assimilate to our culture, pay taxes, and work hard to provide their families with a good life, perhaps some may not agree with amnesty, but I do feel a work permit and the guarantee that they would then go about doing all the necessary paperwork should be enough to keep the good ones here. And yes, I am Mexican, born and bred here in the US, but related to many who have come illegally and damn proud of them for working their a$$es off to have a good life here, at this point they have all become permanent residents and some are even citizens, but yes they did originally come illegally. I also feel strongly that to slow down or stop the influx of illegal immigrants coming we do have to build some type of wall or fence and do something to keep the legal process from being so lengthy as that is what prevents so many from even attempting to do it right. Just my opinion folks. |

I do not believe those people are racist, however, I do not think it is fair to only look at Mexican's,. Let's check on the Cubans? That is a whole different ball game. If they can get here they can stay! How fair is that..........Every thing being equeal, shouldn't most of the Cubans be sent back? |

yeah we are racist lets keep it real who are we foolin, thats why we only criticize mexicans when more than half of our illegals are not even from mexico theyr visa over stays and what about asians that come over on shipping containers, our beef should extend out to our fellow american that employs and the scummy republicans that assist this year vote democratically and teach em a lesson |

This question is asked over and over and over again. Quit your whining. If you are racist, don't be ashamed, admit it. If you are not, then why are you crying about somebody calling you one?
I get so tired of people with their "I'm not a racist...but". Saying you are not a racist is not a vaccination.
The whole "illegality" argument is a big pretext. Here is what these people did: They traveled without proper documents. That is it. Everything else is an individual thing.
Some people commit crimes, some people don't pay taxes, some people abuse the welfare system. Those individual people can be found in the population of US citizens as well as legal and illegal immigrants. It is a character thing and has nothing to do with paperwork. The fact that some did not have the opportunity to get legal status does not make them a person lacking moral character.
Yes, I said it, THEY DO NOT HAVE THE OPPORTUNITY TO GET LEGAL STATUS. There is no law that would allow them to come legally. Period. I know because I am an immigration attorney.
I repeat this over and over and people don't want to hear that. They prefer to keep the idea in their head that they are "illegal" criminal people who choose not to follow the law because they have dishonorable motives.
So why do people refuse to hear the truth? I don't know, but I suspect that for some of them, the whole "enforcement supporter" position is a really popular mask for good old fashioned racism. |

I believe that you can be anti-illegal immigrant and NOT be racist, but too many on here make it about race and use stereotypes. some even racial slurs. If you dont want to be called a racist, it is simple, dont say racist things! that includes saying stupid comments about them being dirty...or things about tacos, fried rice...etc. |

Sometimes it's true, though not always. There are people who are interested in selectively enforcing some laws and not others. Then there are those who would probably be in favor of supporting and enforcing all laws.
Personally, I think we need to resolve this situation and we should definitely have a "guest worker" program that does not lead to a green card or to citizenship, while keeping the rest of the immigration system in place. |

they have no viable argument so are reduced to name calling - which has been pointed out on this site many, many times!
The only way to save middle-class Americans is thru STRICT local, state & federal enforcement...everyone has seen the numbers, we are paying billions of tax dollars for these criminals to remain on the lam..... SHAME ON BOTH DEMOCRATS & REPUBLICANS!!! |

Interesting thing is that those who scream "racist" the loudest are the ones trying to convince us that their own people are somehow better suited to work for sub-standard wages under exploitative conditions.
If those who object to illegal immigration suggested anything close to this, they'd probably be lynched. |

In my view we are not racist at all we just want our laws enforced and abided by .Think about it our laws are what make this country safe and livable without these laws we would be another Mexico and the illegals would not have a better place to look towards for a better life .Please understand this people no law is more important or less important than another they are all equal .These laws all of them are like threads in the quilt of our society if you start to pull on one loose thread the quilt starts fray and thus becomes torn and tattered just like Mexico where the people are left to fend for themselves against a corrupt government and brutal drug cartels. We can't allow that to happen here we have a good thing going here and it is worth fighting for so if a few ignorant people want to call me racist so be it I know that I am not I'm just a patriot who loves this country and all its people . |

The ONLY way they can claim racism is if there was a bust where they found more than one race of illegals, but only sent one of those races home.
Do any illegal supporters have information regarding something like this happening? If not, they need to get together and figure out an intelligent argument!

I personally am not intimidated by someone calling me a racists,I know who and what I am.Some one elses trying to define me as a person means nothing. The race card just doesn't work on me.I prefer facts to name calling.Try to prove my facts are untrue or my beliefs unfounded then we can talk ,until then ,your words mean nothing to me except that you don't have a good argument so you resort to name calling.
I recommend the following three major priorities to control illegal immigration into the U.S.:
Interior enforcement, especially laws pertaining to jobs,
Border security, especially the Arizona border, and
Elimination of benefits, such as amnesties, educational subsidies, driver's licenses, illegal alien identification cards, and many others. |
