What are the immigration laws in the uk? My girl and I our planning to get married soon, she is from the usa, she is currently on a visitors visa. We need to know what we need to do how long it may take and what will the cost be? What should our first step be?

your first step will be to go to the homeoffice website and look up marriage for the visitors visa that your girlfriend has this will tell you if you have the rights to marry on the visa or if you need to apply for a certificate of approval this is were the home office give you permission to marry maybe the quickest way is to visit your local registry office mine was very helpful when i married my husband in september they will tell you what you need
if you need to apply for a certificate of approval this will cost about £400 if you apply by post and could take up to 14 weeks to get you answer

It's strange isn't it? Not many folk have anything good to say about the UK, but everyone want to come here. Our tiny island is overloaded, we can't afford to keep all these people. Which is why our NHS is in great trouble. Have a look in any of the large hospital wards in the south and they are filled with foreigners. Please don't let anyone else in. |
