I was asked to write a personal reference letter to Immigration for a friend of mine. I already wrote it, but now I was asked to add my alien number and also somethings that are not completely true. I feel really bad about her situation, but I have an immigration process myself (gotta apply to remove conditions of residency) and don't want to lie. Could I get in trouble if her case goes down? Even if I do not lie in the letter?
Additional Details
Well, her lawyer said that as long as the person who writes the letter is legal in the country, the recomendation is valid.

If you tell the truth you can't get into trouble. My only question is what good does a reference letter from a non American do in an immigration proceeding. None I'd say.
EDIT: Ninita, don't get involved with this person. They are already trying to get you to lie. Which if done on a application of immigration is a felony. Don't put yourself at risk, in your position it isn't worth it. |

Don't lie and you'll have no problem. Lie, get caught, and you open yourself up to fraud charges. |

Do not lie in any letter to immigration officials. We already have too many people trying to manipulate the system. Tell the truth and let HER case proceed as it is legally supposed to. |
