Immigration to Scotland?

Hello, I am researching the steps on becoming a Citizen in the UK so I can live in Scotland (I currently live in USA, CO). I'm having little luck. So, I was wondering if anyone knows what steps I need to take, how soon I can move and live there, and how hard it will be. (I am trying to leave America before August 31, 2009.)

here's a tip the uk are in dire need of maths and science teachers, that would look good on an application form if you had such skills.

Unless one of your parents was a British citizen at the time of your birth, you would not be eligible for UK citizenship until you had lived legally and continuously in the UK for a minimum of 6 years (5 years to get permanent residency, then one more year to apply for citizenship). Years spent as a student do not count towards your residency requirement. You need to be working and paying taxes with a work permit

You don't mention your age, education level or career so it's impossible to tell which visa you might be eligible for.
