Immigration to canada NEW RULES?

hi everyone!
I have applied for immigration to canada as skilled worker under "Biomedical engineer" in Oct2008 but then a letter came to me
that this occupation does not correspond to the ones in the list and that due to the new rules which are legislated in Jan 2008 my application cant be processed furthur.
I need to know if my 1 year experience in service department of a biomedical engineering company regarding repair and installation of meical systems and devices can be taken under category of "Electrician(Except industrial and power system) " of the new occupation list or not.
I wonder if I am eligible to send a new application under this category I mean if It is related to my job experience or not.

P.S medical systems are maily electronic systems used in hospitals and consist of electronic boards.

reply from lawers is appreciated!!!
thanks in advance

You should try it. If you are refused, they will return your fees (eventually) so you have nothing to lose by trying.

It took a while but I finally found the category for BIO-Medical engineer

You MUST use this category

http://www5.hrsdc.gc.ca/NOC/English/NOC/2006/Profile.aspx?val=2&val1=2148

2148 Other Professional Engineers,

Biomedical engineers design and develop medical diagnostic and clinical instrumentation, equipment and procedures; develop devices to assist persons with disabilities; advise hospital administrators on planning, acquisition and use of medical equipment; and modify and install or supervise installation of equipment.

Try again but use THIS category and while you will not be processed immediately (because it is NOT in demand) you should still be processed.

These [new] criteria affect you only if you applied on or after February 27, 2008. If you applied before February 27, 2008, your application will be processed according to the rules that were in effect at that time.
http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/immigrate/skilled/apply-who-instructions.asp#list

If you insist on using the wrong category, you WILL be DENIED again.

We got turned down twice for that reason and accepted the third time.
