Its very sad actually that this is happening to us. I hear that the foreigners do much better work than us (which probably means they knock out more work in a shorter space of time - I'm in the building trade). Employers are loving them, cheap labour! There should be a law against it.... Mind you, our businesses shouldn't be exploiting these people either. We can't win really. I also feel the same about British people that ponce off the state and live in brand new homes, while i slog my guts out trying to pay a mortgage which could be taken away from me should the interest rate keep rising.... i have worked all my adult life and i don;t think the government will give me, my dog and 2 cats a new 4 bedroom house to live in! PS: You don't need to speak english to build a house or a road! These people are usually employed because of the lower wage they will take and or the long hours they will work. |

If a foreigner who can barely speak English has taken over your job, then you must be an IDIOT. You ought to be ashamed of your stupidity. |

If somebody else took your job, immigrant or not, is because your skills aren't that good for the position you were in. |

Yeah, it's harder for me, a teenager, to get a job anywhere. |

What? You mean turn up on time? Not pull sickies whenever you feel like it? Work all day and not stand around skiving? Be polite to customers?
It's no wonder the British worker can't compete with Johnny Foreigner using these underhand tactics. |

First of all Silwr and Sarita- you are clueless! it has nothing to do with ability but, everything to do with greed.
I was selected for a Security Technician position for the company I work for because I have the credentials and the background to do the job. One week before I was set to move to the new job location, I was notified that the company had changed it's mind and decided to hire a third country national because they could pay them 25% less than I would be making as an American Citizen. Yes, this is the exact reason I was given. I file a complaint of discrimination and was laughed at by one of my superiors (Who happens to be Hispanic) saying that there was no discrimination. The funny thing is when the Government wouldn't grant a Security clearance to the person and he couldn't keep the job, the sam superior argued that it was discrimination against this person.
No, I didn't get that job but did eventually get the same job in another location but, lost the opportunity to live in an ideal location so the company could save money. |

What kind of job are you not qualified for ? That an undocumented could take it away from you, you might have been asleep on the job. |

look to the man that sits next to you thats not a foreigner or across to the other cubicle where there is another local. i'll tell ya something now i'd sooner work with a bunch of polish than what i have to work with and i'd gladly swap ya. 20 years on the job and i've only known 3 or 4 people that i would call a true workmate. all the "migrants" i've worked with have kids families and wives just like me. i'll tell you the biggest pisser of all, alkies! my working life has been full of them and i'm sick of them. is it such a chore to turn up to work sober nowadays for these losers. i may be out of a job thanks to a local alky, not polish albanian or anythingelsian. |

Well the Roads cant get any worse,
Lay Roads like the Germans, they will last longer cuz they work harder on them. They arent affraid of work.
There are more and more people in this country that cant speak a word of English, and live in nicer houses than me. I have worked everyday since school and am in debt, have a real crap job (compared to what I am studying for, but it does pay a few bills) and cant get the lowest grade job in the IT market cuz they oursource to different countries or prefer to pay £14,000 a year to a immigrant programmer. How on earth they can justify employing someone to write software that cant speak a word of the language they are programming for!
My most laughed at sign I have seen so far is
"We has here officeial complains form"
wow....
Even the stupidest drunk comes out with better!
Heres a thought, Why if we pay so much out to the EU, are our costs so much higher?
Whilst abroad a while ago i noticed a considerable difference.
1 litre of beer, 1 euro 45. which at that time was converted as £1 for a litre.
you could see where the money was going when a big mac cost 7 euros. Why do we let this happen? shouldnt things cost the same accross the world??? |

Sure haven't. Around here you have to show enough ID that they will know you are not legal. All of the illegals gotta go outta town to work around here haha. |

No not in the slightest, to work where I do you need to have an enhanced Criminal Records Bureau check and to get that you need so much i.d. that an illegal wouldn't have a hope. |

I work in a call center - I've had 2 jobs shipped to offshore support. Several years ago the government passed a law called Free Trade Agreement, allowing companies in the US to ship jobs overseas, giving the companies a very large tax break, & putting many Americans out of work. Thank the government for shipping your job overseas. |

Nope. I have a nice comfy job..but it would be a big plus if I spoke Mandarin (half of our clients are Chinese, which would look good for the business if I did) but it isn't really a big deal because they speak English anyways.... |

Not me personally (yet) but I've notcied that there are more and more foreign HGV drivers on our roads than ever before.
Most of them do speak English, but some struggle to speak a few words and can barely reverse their trailers into a bay. I'd like to blame employers but with our government's crippling fuel price policy, it's about survival for them too. |
