Incapacity Benefit is being stopped because its wide open to abuse from workshy scum. Unfortunately, its the genuinely ill that will suffer. The majority of Incap claimants are blaggers claiming back problems and depression which is a major kick in the bollocks for anybody who genuinely suffers from those conditions. Not every problem in this country can be blamed on immigration, the place is already full of British born sh!theads. |

Incapacity Benefit is not being stopped, but claimants have to undergo a Government doctors medical examination. This is because to many long term claimants are still recieving this benefit for problems that should have improved years ago. One claimant was getting this benefit for Acne and has been claiming for the last 9 years. Other cases cited are Warts on hand, sore toes, cracked finger nails, and other stupid reasons. The Government pays out £26 billion a year for this benefit, and it is increasing every year. To pay for these increases the taxpayer has to pay more tax to pay for it. |

however you and others would like to blame immigration for everything that is wrong in england today, from the trafic you experience going to work ,to why the weather is so bad, well sorry, you can't.open your eyes.years ago we all knew someone ,who would pull outside the doll office,at their teabreak from the building site,to go claim unemployment benefit just because they could.where were all these complaining voices then?Or it is ok if a cheat is born and bred in england,example...one of ours!!!.You seem to have it in with the poles, just wait till bulgarians and romanians start comming.I been living in england for 20 years, never once drawn benefits, and always generated my own work.I now have not worked for a month and a half,I do not blame the polish or anyone apart from my connections and high prices.I am against all scroungers local or foreign, but not all immigrants are here to free benefits. And the ones who are pure economic migrants,it is not their fault for wanting to improve their lifes,it is the tight as*holes who employ them for peanuts, and all the voting peoples fault,as it is the voters who put the government up that allows all this to happen.look here for the rain of thumbs down, but it is only who ever is upset from this reply and so sorry the truth hurts.try cope as best as you can ,you can not deny that there is a lot of racism in england. |

It must have escaped your notice anji, but this country of ours is no longer ours, we always get stitched up, (pardon the pun..avatar), the government keep saying immigration helps the economy because most immigrants pay into the system, and will work for less, I have a theory, if immigrants work for less, and a lot seem to be in the building industry, who exactly are they building houses for? I don't know anybody who is finding it easy to rent, even a disgusting 2 bed is nearly £500pcm |

Incapacity benefit is just that, for people incapable of work for very serious, non treatable or terminal reasons, unfortunatly some people have really took the piss, and made ridicules claims for "nail disorders" and "acne" and amazingly these claims have been paid as genuine! It is not the fault of the genuine claiment, it is the fault of the British government who's job it is to root out the piss takers from the genuinly disabled, they make it sound so complex, yet it is so simple, stricter tests are needed but could also put of genuine people, who are fully entitled to claim if they are not supported to do so in a non patronising way. The system needs updating rather than reforming. |

Welcome to the cold hard fact of being part of the EU.
Because the UK is allot softer than our EU Neighbours, we get the most immigrants coming here |

im on incap and it serriously annoys me when people abuse the system.i was in my job for 4years then became serriously ill and the medical professions stopped me workin.we need to be tougher but not to the point that people like me will suffer.
the whole benefit system is a shambles but so is the country.
where is our identity or do we even have one anymore? |

Wrong again - getting people out of the 'benefit trap' will enable them to take advantage of the new training initiatives aimed at creating jobs for British people - as opposed to the current job market which attracts immigrants because of the low wages. Thats right - immigrants do the jobs that British people won't touch, because it pays them more to stay on benefits. You need to do a little more research before you embarrass yourself with any similar questions. |

has no body told you? this is the land of milk and honey, the streets are paved with is it gold, or a really stupid government,?
any way, if you live in another country, you have to abide by their rules, when you come to this country, you only have to shout I'm being deprived of my human rights, and you get it all on a bloody golden platter. |

Firstly incapacity benefit is not being stopped. If you are deservingly on it you will remain on it (I work as a carer for a guy with cerebral palsy so I do know something about this). There are people claiming incapacity benefit for acne apparently and that has to be stopped.
Secondly, we take more in taxes from our immigrant community than we pay out to support them. They are propping up our economy. Where are we going to get the people of working age to pay taxes to pay the pensions of an ever growing number of elderly people? Immigration is the only answer we seem to have right now.
Thirdly, the reason we can't buy property in Poland is that right now it is dirt cheap compared to property here. Polish people are priced out of our housing market (as are most of us but that's another topic). If we were allowed out buy it then it would be taken up by our rich people as an investment and leave Poland with a housing crisis.
Fourthly, we do not give everything as a country. Some of us do but there is now an increasing section of society who live off benefits and completely fail to contribute to society. These people are the drain on society. People don't want to work but are perfectly capable. Yes some jobs are horrible, I've done some of the worst! (I've cleaned junkie effluence off a toilet in Leith, where Trainspotting was set.) We now bring people in from abroad to do the horrible jobs as we can't fill the vacancies with British people. These people end up working in horrible conditions for next to nothing and don't complain. They take the jobs that we won't do because we've become to lazy and expect everything handed to us on a plate. If people want to work there are jobs out there.
Finally I return to the fact that people who can't work and are genuinely ill will remain on incapacity benefit. Any government that tries to take that away from people will be voted out. The problem is that we all now have to spend so much time trying to answer the lies and distortions of the Daily Mail, the BNP and the Murdoch press. Look for the real facts and never believe what you read. Not even this.
PS To answer the additional, it is not Polish people or any other sort of immigrants taking our housing. It is the rich who under the current labour government have been allowed to get richer and richer completely unchecked who have taken to buying property as investments that has led us to this point where we have a housing crisis. Hopefully the coming slow down in the economy and house prices will stem this but over time property is always the safest investment. |

dont know much

I worked with a guy who left work through "ill health" and is now on incapacity benefits, before he left work he told us that he was fine but going to blag it .He owns Three houses 2 of which he rents out.
He is rolling in money but still rips of the rest of us hard working taxpayers off..so I agree with the Government stopping some of these workshy blaggers.
Although I agree we need to do something about the overwhelming number of immigrants in the country. |

I and many other brits will vote for the party who stops immigration and sends the ones who shouldn't be here back from where they came. I work in the public sector and people don't know the half of what they get handed to them. |

I lived in Finland and in the early nineties it was just a concept..and said they would NEVER join...oh well they did anyway but the vote was close. They said that what is happening was going to happen and it did. Just be grateful you don't live in the USA. We deal with that stuff all the time and if your in the crapper we already went down the loo! |

'If someone is REALLY ill then their benefits should not be stopped but there are people who say that they are unable to walk and CAN walk people who say they are permanently tired which is just a poor excuse for saying "I dont want to work". There are people who pretend to be ill and are getting benefits and those who are really ill getting very little or no help whatsoever. It might be a good idea to have inspectors going round unexpectedly to see whats happening in those homes!!!!There are many people here in England who want something for nothing....whether they are home bred or foreigners. Gone are the days when people took pride in their work and being employed. Unfortunately England is not just for the English any more it is a multi cultural and secular country nor do we have reciprocal arrangements with foreign countries. I lived in India for a number of years and received absolutely no benefits at all and there are ex patriots who have returned only to find that their pensions have been cut because they were out of the country for a certain period. |

Just another example of how the Government put other before us.
Yes there are lead-swingers claiming Incapacity Benefit. But there are plenty of genuine cases of people who are too sick to work. What wil happen to them? |

Is that true? you hear so many stories and wonder how many are true. I thought quite a lot of people were buying up property in Poland and the other accession states in the hope of making a killing in the future. Latest story over here is that Polish citizens are returning home and flying back here (Ireland) once a month to sign on for unemployment benefit/allowance, the benefits of cheap flights!
plus child benefit etc. but again, how much is true? |

Well said seven deadly gins.
Immigration cannot be blamed for all this countries ills.
Look at the 2000 odd people claiming benefits because they are too fat - lazy, bone idle, useless wastes of space ! |
