Interested in finding out of I can apply for British passport?

My father was born in Scotland in 1934, moved to Canada in the late 60's and became a Canadian Citizen in the early to mid 80;s. I was born in 1973. Can I apply for my British Passport by means of descent and what type of documentation will I need? I have little to no contact with my father.

As your father was a British born citizen at the time of your birth, you can apply for a British passport as a citizen 'by descent'. You'll need to submit your father's birth certificate with your application. If you can't get a birth certificate through him, contact the British Consulate-General or High Commission for information on acceptable documentation:

You father would have produced a copy of his British Birth Certificate to Candian Immigration, if you can get a copy of that certificate, you are through
