My husband is getting a job in Zug, Switzerland. They are paying him 34000 USD + Medical insaurance + may be few allowances. Is it sufficient to stay there?
How much food + accommodation (including water + electricity + heating) costs..??

Zug costs about the same amount as London and New York although your taxes will be considerably lower.
A one bedroom apartment will cost you CHF 2,000 a month.
I think you would have a very tough time managing. Ask them to suggest a place to live on that figure! And I suggest he negotiate a Swiss Franc salary so that he does not get crunched as the dollar collapses. |

Is it 34'000 USD per year or per month?
34000 USD per year is a very low salary for Switzerland. If your husband lives there on his own it would be enough for a very modest life. For a couple it is not enough to stay in Switzerland for a longer time.
What kind of job was your husband proposed?
The salary seems very unfair if your husband is a qualified professional.
To give you some examples:
The average salary in Switzerland is around 75K CHF p.a.
Salary of a supermarket cashier: ~ 45K p.a.
Salary of college graduate (business administration): ~80k CHF p.a.
Salary of somebody cleaning an apartment ~ 20.- per hour. |
