Is 5 years long enough I ask for four outstanding DUI warrants and is illegal arrested now 5th time DUI?

Norridge police announced the sentencing of a Chicago man in connection with an August 2008 accident.

A posting on Norridge's Web site states Mateo Ortiz was sentenced to five years in jail for aggravated driving under the influence and aggravated driving while his license was revoked.

Norridge police Deputy Chief James Jobe said Ortiz was 38 years old at the time of arrest and was convicted Jan. 7.

On Aug. 2, Ortiz hit a 63-year-old man on the 7200 block of Forest Preserve Boulevard, Jobe said, injuring the victim. Ortiz tried to leave the scene, police said, but another motorist blocked Ortiz's vehicle and took the keys from the ignition.

Ortiz reportedly had a blood alcohol level of .18 percent, four outstanding DUI warrants and was an undocumented immigrant.

The investigating officers were officer Theodore Vasilakopoulos and detectives Charles Tortorello and Salvatore Auriemma, Jobe said.

When asked about possible deportation for Ortiz as an undocumented immigrant, Jobe said the information was forwarded to immigration authorities.

"What they'll do with that beyond that, I don't know that," Jobe said.

Jobe said the sentencing depends on the person's background and what types of crimes they were involved with in the past.

"It's hard to say any sentence is typical," he said. "Obviously it depends on how the judge feels and in this case -- I know it was a plea agreement -- so it was something that they worked out between the offender's attorney, the Cook County State's Attorney's office and the judge."

What were they waiting for? Him to kill someone? You would think that after the first DUI arrest they would deport him wouldn't you? First conviction (under age 21) â€” Class A misdemeanor with possible 0- 12 months imprisonment; loss of driving privileges for minimum 2 years; 100 hours community service; fines of up to $2,500; eligible for Restricted Driving Permit (RDP) after one year of revocation; may be required to have a BAIID installed in vehicle as part of driving relief.
First conviction (over age 21) â€” Class Amisdemeanor with possible 0-12 months imprisonment; loss of driving privileges for minimum 1 year; 100 hours community service; fines of up to $2,500; eligible for RDP; may be required to have a BAIID installed in vehicle as part of driving relief.
Second conviction â€” Class A misdemeanor with possible 0-12 months imprisonment; fines of up to $2,500; eligible for RDP after one year of revocation; required to have a BAIID installed in vehicle as part of driving relief; loss of driving privileges for minimum 5 years if committed within 20 years of first conviction.
Within five years of first conviction: Mandatory 5 days in jail or 240 hours community service (terms of imprisonment or community service not subject to suspension/reduction nor is offender eligible for probation); fines of up to $2,500; eligible for RDP after one year of revocation; required to have a BAIID installed in vehicle as part of driving relief.
