The "holiday" you are referring to is Cesar Chavez 's birthday,who incidentally was against illegal immigration because he was smart enough to realize that an unlimited labor supply leads to lower wages.

BTW, nobody, except for a group of ignorant people on Yahoo, calls California "Mexifornia." That is so insulting to our state and I highly resent it.

No California is not all Mexicans. Why should there be a holiday for being a race or color that you had no part in deciding what you wanted to be. I don't get a holiday just because I chanced to be born white..
There are many other races of and colors of people in California. We are all represented.

If you are referring to Cesar Chavez he deserves a holiday ,he was for the legal Mexican farm workers and totally against illegal aliens .

No California isn't all Mexican. That's just stereotyping California. There are a mix of Asians, South Americans, Africans etc. I'd say California is very diverse. I don't think there is a place that's all Mexican except Mexico. I never heard of a Holiday for being Mexican. I don't think it's true.
