Of course it isn't...yes they do provide a few short term benefits but they eventually move on to being arrogant interlopers demanding 'rights' they have not earned & do not deserve. When a guest(invited or not) enters your home you expect them to be polite & treat your home with respect....not sit themselves down at the head of the table & start issuing orders.

Logic dictates that if the economy is booming, you need the workforce to expand so that you fuel the boom. Whether this is fulfilled by local talent or by immigrants depends on what skills are available.

Conversely, when the economy is on the slide as it is now, jobs are going, so immigration is not good - all it will do is to increase the numbers on welfare support adding to discontentment from locals out of work.

Immigration needs to be controlled so that only those with the skills required for unfilled jobs in this country are allowed to work.

The education system needs to be reviewed to make sure that we are producing graduates of the right calibre to do jobs we want them to do (instead of some of the stupid degree courses that have sprung up). Also, not everyone 'has' to go to university.

yes it is. people complain they take our jobs, but in fact most of them take the jobs we don't want to do. also, if we didn't have immigration our population would be decreasing because the birth rate is falling. this fall in birth rate would lead to there being not enough people in the work force to support the dependant population (those retired and those below working age) which is actually why our retirement age is going up. so yeah immigration is good for the UK, it's the illegal immigration that is causing a problem because then we dont know how many people are actually coming into the country.

I think so. Brits move out to other countries, the Algarve, Australia, France etc and other migrants move in.

If British citizens can migrate to other countries, why can't people migrate here?

We have Doctors and Nurses in the NHS from other countries.

We have a much wider range of foods to eat in different restaurants.

Migrants refresh the economy and cultures.

Not, with the current volume of immigration and the recession. We are an island with limited space and resources. the truth is we haven't controlled it at all. The government were too concerned about being called racist and did not apply common sense to the issue. I've come to the conclusion that Labour too many hang ups on everything, and because of this they can't govern. Shame really.

Look around you. All those objects you see - computers, TVs, PS3, XBOX, mobile phones, clothes, toys ALL COME FROM PLACES WHERE we call those people "immigrants".

You really think you would still have that wonderful PC in your room, or that phone or that TV or all those toys you played with when you were small if Globalisation and immigration didnt occur?

Id laugh the day when the UK stops immigration and kicks out all the immigrants when the BNP come to power - coz that will be the day when the UK truly goes down the drain with no safety valve.

Yes and its going to get even more important over the next 40 years. If we dont have young immigrants in this country then due to the current ageing population this country will fall apart.
