I'm sorry but with everything that is going on in the world, the war on terror, the war in Iraq, domestic issues, having to press 1 sounds pretty trivial. |

I hate automated lines anyway i press 0000000000 till I get an operator...!!! |

I hate to have to push a button to speak English. If you hare here in America, LEARN THE LANGUAGE!!! When you go to another country, it is common courtesy to speak their language.
America isn't a Spanish speaking country and it NEVER will be. |
|

Dee Why!
|
no. i get offended when they put me on hold n then hang up!!!! |

English should be the only prompt option I agree. But with so many banks willing to give illegals lines of credit, you can understand their need to give a Spanish prompt option. Its all about their greed for more money!
I also agree with Oglala Lakota regarding Pamela. You have to understand Pamela's way of thinking. Pamela feels that since she is married to a Mexican, she has to defend anything that has to do with Mexicans even if they are wrong. Don't let that Irish derby fool you she has completely lost her own identity, she has made herself their unofficial token spokesperson. |

Wait till the Chinese take over when we can't pay back our debt.......it's a lot harder language to learn! |

Because they are to lazy to try english, and the business rather have there money than to worry if they speak english. I live in El Paso where the whole freakin city speaks nothing but spanish, but I resuse to learn a new language to live in my own country |

If our so-called politicians would have some back-bone they would make the U.S. an English Only country. That would force all immigrants to learn English. |

More offended than you know. We shouldn't have all these press this button for this language, blah blah blah. I can undrerstand a grace period to learn the language, but at some point they need to learn the language. My ancestors had to learn the language. No one was going to jump through hoops to translate for them. These people need to at least make an effort if they want to be here so bad |

well, when we try to call you i hear, if you want to speak to an idiot press 1, if you want to speak to a normal human being, hang up and dial another number. |

I think the problem is not "press one for English" what you would need in order to feel comfortable like many people in this country is getting the default language change to moron. |

English should take precedence, but like many places in Europe everything is done in multiple languages. Just another crack in the American bubble. |

The U.S. does not have an official language
The U.S. does not have an official language
The U.S. does not have an official language
The U.S. does not have an official language
English is the de-facto language, but it is not official.
Canada and many European nations are mulitilingual -- are they dying? Are their societies on the brink of turmoil? Do English-speaking Canadians, for example, have an officer pointing a gun to their head saying: "Speak French or die?"
Is it painful to press one? Are your buttons covered with acid? |

Yes I am offended. There is no reason that the Spanish language should be recognized in an English speaking country. I shouldn't see EVERY sign written in two languages. I understand if some people cannot speak English if they are visiting for a while, and by visiting I mean returning to where they came from within a month. I myself had the same language barrier when I visited Europe. Also, why are there not other languages being added to these signs, there are people in this country that speak French, German, Chinese, and many other languages. There is no reason to see any other language on any sign, other than English. |

No, not at all. Like others said it's just a matter of pushing a button. |

I am a little annoyed, but not as annoyed as annoyed as having a machine answer the phone. I tried calling on blue tooth and find it hard to dial 1 when I'm on my phone. I am more irritated that if I do get an Operator its usually an Indian. I can't understand them half the time with their accent and I get insulted when the name they give me is Cody are something like that. |

I agree with Karkondrite , Pamela and PaO...
There is nothing wrong with this and whoever thinks that Pamela is just defending Mexicans because she feels the need to do so ... is maybe lacking some real love and affection (maybe something else)... seriously people what is so wrong with learning a new language do you want to stay as dumb as you are now???? Or do you actually want to learn something????... Seems to me that this is an issue that has already been dealt with... and pressing a different # to speak Spanish or another language is how they dealt with it... |

I have been used to this for decades now, it really doesn't bother me that much. As long as the company's greeting is in English there is no problem. Please ignore Pamela above who likes to rant on about Native Americans. This language issue is not a Native American one. That is an example of abuse of the "native" card.
The only thing I would object to, is feeling forced to learn another European language - Spanish, in order to live and conduct business in America. So far, in my lifetime this has not occurred yet, and I doubt it if it ever will. |

It is the default language. It was the first language you heard calling the bank and was the 1st option. The majority of your television, radio stations, etc. is in English.
The world is changing, get used to it. |

It bugs me more when western union caters to Illegal Mexicans that send hundreds of billions of dollars to Mexico. Or when bank of America wants to give illegals credit cards! |

You bet. I was born in America. It was founded by English Colonists as well as others, but the war was fought against England, not Spain or France and the language adopted at that time was ENGLISH. I also think it is stupid that we can't have our religious beliefs left alone. Why must I be politically correct, when political correctness is offensive to me! |

Yes.
We should assimilate them, make them learn English. If they don't like it, send them back to their own country. |

I think English is the default. And people give people what they want, if they see they have more Spanish-speaking customers, they're going to give their customers what they want, same if it were Chinese, Italian, or whatever. But I've never heard of pressing a number to hear English.
AND I DEFINATELY AGREE WITH PAMELA!! |

I agree. If we offer more than one language, such as spanish, it should be press one for spanish. While pressing a button for English isn't that big a deal, it is a symptom of a much bigger problem. That's why people object. Not because they are too lazy to push a freaking button. I don't know why some people can't understand that, yet they take offense at the smallest things as well. |

No, I'm not offended because I'm billingual, I was smart enough to come to this country get a green card and guess what, learn the language that everybody speaks here, ENGLISH. |
