I am Hispanic, born in the US. If I heard loud music four houses down at 2 AM, I wouldn't care what kind it was, I'd just be pissed. It's not a racial issue, it's a courtesy issue, and common courtesy dictates that you should not have a loud party at 2 AM on a school night. I wouldn't care if it were mariachi music, hip hop, or Tony Freaking Bennet.
I also wouldn't be dumb enough to walk over there, especially if the house was known for illegal activity. Next time it happens, just call the cops without warning. That late at night, somebody is going to be drunk and stupid, and somebody is going to have a gun. Let the police handle it. Your neighbors don't have to know who made the call. |

non, it's common sence and YOUR right |

No, but I would look at your local city ordinances I know for sure where I live that if you blast music too loud between 7:00 pm - 7:00 a.m. you're disrupting the peace. Just call the cops on them the next time. I just hate the type of people who play the racism card on every possible occasion. It's people like that who set back social equality of all races. |

Blaring music at 2AM is Illegal. Next time call the police. |

it's not racist of you ask them to turn the music down.
it's racist if you call them "ethic specific" names for being too loud. |

Of course not, most towns have noise ordinances to control this type of nuisance. |

A polite request isn't racist. Perforating it with racial epithets would be. Just follow up with a 911 call and leave it with that if they don't turn it down. |

No it's not racist at all. Any loud music after 11pm is illegal in most places no matter who is producing it and the cops will always shut them down. |

Not unless racial adjectives were used to describe the music or the party goers. I don't know why people want to throw out the race card for every incident that happens between people of different races. It only serves to perpetuate racism. |

No it is not. They should not have music playing that loud that late. No decent human being would. Decent people take into consideration how their actions affect others. Do not even bother talking to them next time. Just call the cops and have them deal with it. Violence between neighbors can quickly escalate especially with the type it appears you have. Dont put yourself at risk for that. |

No, you were right in asking your neighbor to turn their music down. Actually it is a law and most communities have a curfew by a certain time at night that you should be inside and not have any loud tv's, music, anything after 10pm. or you can also report it to the cops. Thats what I would have done. And it is annonomous so they would not know who reported them. You were alot nicer then I would have been at 2am in the morning.
They were just being rude and have to obey by the rules of the law. No one is a racist in this situiation. Good Luck To You In The Future!!! Don't Hesitate Call The Cops!!!! |

Asking someone to reduce noise levels at 2 am is definitely not racist....it's just good sense. The people having the party were the only ones who made a racist statement. |

No Way. The black neighbors should have been a little less confrontational but the hispanic neighbors were being very inconsiderate playing loud music that late. NOBODY should be playing such loud music at ANY hour between 9 pm and 7 am. In NJ I had hispanic neighbors upstairs who were playing mariachi or whatever at midnight and the next morning I politely asked them to keep it down in the future. They never did it again. I am white but I was polite about it as I would be whether my neighbors had been white themselves, hispanic OR black. It is about considering other people. Also people don't like to be yelled at whether it's in their face or on the phone. Kill them with kindness and that is more effective. |

Of course not. Some people have learned well that holding up "the race card" will get others to question themselves and give in to them. This may have been the case here. |

This isn't a racial issue it's a respect issue.. It looks like your Hispanic neighbors don't have any respect for the others in the neighborhood.. Why is it that when a person is called out on an issue the first thing they pull(if minority) is the race card?? This country was founded by immigrants.. People need to put the race card down especially when it's their own behavior and disrespect that causes other people(the neighbors) problems... |

no, this is not a racist issue & if your neighbors take offense to your complaints then so what. they are being extremely rude & inconsiderate playing music that loud & so late into the night in the first place. that type of activity is a form of hostile & aggressive behavior. their problem is that they have a chip on their shoulder. your other neighbor did the right thing by calling the cops; you have to do something & be pro-active or rude people will just keep stepping all over you. |

The thing is, you arent that black woman. You dont know the motavation of her asking them to turn it down, the guy may or may not have a point. The act of asking is not racist in itself, but it is hard to say what drives people. I agree that people need to be more respectful, by not blasting their music. |

Only if common sense is racist. Those neighbors showed complete disregard and disrespect for the neighborhood, especially the nearest homes. I'm glad the cops were called. |

LOL, no, it doesn't make a person racist. You're so cute, the way you asked your question, it made me laugh! Your neighbor did the right thing in calling the cops. You live in an apartment building right? Tell the manager's and owner's about what happened, and their racial slur's towards you and your neighbor's, after so many complaint's, eventually they will be asked to move, or even evicted for abusing the right's of other's, and breaking the rules of the complex. |

They don't care about our laws, or they would not be here in the first place. Give Police the right to research someones immigration status, and a lot of these problems will disappear. |

No this is not a racist problem. Its a respect issue. I would have put it into a legal area for answers you may find someone from your area that knows your local laws.
I wouldn't walk down the street and risk an altercation call the police most places have a quiet time bylaw. I know our local bylaw is 10 pm. I would suggest you stay on top of this when I was younger I threw a lot of parties and it wasn't until the police started showing up that we took it serious.(I'm Caucasian see definitely not racial problem everyone does it from time to time) The possible damage to property that can happen during these types of parties is not fair for you as the neighbors to assume. It can also bring down property values if your neighborhood becomes home to a party house. |

You know what? Just pity them for bringing the race card into everything. People who accuse others of being racist are being racist themselves. Just shrug them off with knowing the fact that they will not get anywhere in life. |

Wow~ that music is like laughter in the face of America~ I feeel sorry for you ~ eeeeek! I dont get the racist part, where did that come from?~ maybe you should get some 18" speakers and blast at 10,000 watts "Im proud to be an American" over and over and over again with the speakers point at them, and dont stop until they complain~ then get on the mic and chant racist go home- racist go home- racist go home!!!!!! |

Telling a person to turn down music is not racist. I'd have called the police as soon as 12:00 came around. (It would probably have taken them another two hours to come.) Lately, it has been the Hispanics that love to play the race card. |

Hmmm Racist means;
Dictionary.com Unabridged (v 1.0.1) - Cite This Source
rac‧ism  /ˈreɪsɪzəm/ Pronunciation Key - Show Spelled Pronunciation[rey-siz-uhm] Pronunciation Key - Show IPA Pronunciation
–noun
1.a belief or doctrine that inherent differences among the various human races determine cultural or individual achievement, usually involving the idea that one's own race is superior and has the right to rule others.
2.a policy, system of government, etc., based upon or fostering such a doctrine; discrimination.
3.hatred or intolerance of another race or other races.
From what you said, I didn't hear any racial slurs so why do you ask? Being tired of music at 2 am has nothing to do with race. |
