In small enough numbers so that we do not all suffer from the inability to provide needed services.
We must be able to provide clean water, enough housing, readily available educational opportunities, medical facilities, energy to heat our homes/drive our cars/power our lives, etc.
We currently are growing faster then ever before in history. If we stay with this pace and allow no ILLEGAL IMMIGRANT TO STAY our children/grandchildren will still live here when the population hits 400-500 million (depending on how old you are). If the illegals are allowed to become citizens or stay then add another 100 MILLION to those numbers. And with that alone there is no way that our heirs will have as good of a life as us. That is our legacy - not slowing the growth until its far too late! |

Well regulated immigration is a very good thing. Bring in the best and the brighest! Illegal immigration will be our demise as it is a drain on our economy, taxing on public and social services, depresses wages for US workers, and crime rates are much higher among illegal immigrants by more than double over any other group. |

Migration is a good thing, it benefits cultures to be exposed to one another, new ideas and ways of doing things.
Of course, economies have to cope with more or fewer people, and that effects the price of labour and the scarcity of skills. But our societies and economies exist to facilitate us living our lives freely, and freedom of movement is an important freedom. |

Controlled, legal immigration is not a problem. It might even be helpful.
But an uncontrolled tide of dirt-poor illegals is a MAJOR problem; they put a terrible strain on hospitals and other human services. |

Legal is very beneficial to our economy.
Illegal is very draining on the economy as well as legal citizens livelihoods. Illegals are no better than parasites, they are lower than ticks. |

Immigrants actually live the American dream and are not predisposed to the silliness of government intervention. I love legal immigrants because they bring a fresh new perspective to life here.

immigration is just a natural response to economic condidtions... Overall, labor markets will push to reach an equilibrium. there are means andnways to migrate... but policies make it difficult for these forces to adapt rapidly and thats where illegal immigration comes in. Legal or illegal, the core reasons for imigration are comparable throughout the world.
immigration brigs change to other places and could cause problems between different cultures, but if we could build a more equitable world, we could avoid these situations... also, more commercial connectivity between different regions of the world will help and will slowly eliminate cultural barriers that create fear and rejection to immigration |

No because there are alot of citizens in America that need assistance. The immigrants are taking all the jobs, business opportunities, government funding and they are tax exempt. They even manipulate the govenment and get more than their share of aid leaving citizens neglected. |

Open thoughts... why should it have to be case of government control. why do we have to conform to visas ? me being british and criminal record clean can go most places i wish fairly pain free but if i am muslim, wear a burka or speak polish i am hated and subjected to immigration crap. we should have the freedom to roam and to sow where it is possible.
