Well, it's certainly not helping is it?
If we set criteria such as they must be able to go straight into a job, and bring enough money with them to support themselves for 2 years if they become unemployed, then it would aid the economy.
BUT...
We let everyone in willy nilly - regardless, so it is making matters worse. |

im sick to the back teeth of people complaining about migrants. The European Unions main policy is to promote the free movement of people and goods. When a country signs up to it they must realise that EU law is Supreme. When we joined we were given large sums of cash to develop our country...everything comes at a price.nothing anyone can do, not even the government can prevent the influx of migrant workers. |

Fair question .However I know many east Europeans who are doing jobs which my own countrymen have refused due to as far as they are concerned are poor pay and conditions.
I'm British and proud of it.I'm also proud that when the Empire called
the "brown skinned people " answered and died. That is a debt.
Change is the only permanent thing , we cannot be an island anymore
Hold onto our history and embrace our future. |

In the short term, it probably is. However, I'm an American and a New Yorker. I basically live in the melting pot of the world and can assure you that in the long run immigration always contributes to a society. |

No, because as our economy becomes worse there's less reason for migrant workers to be here. the run on the pound means that lower paid migrant workers can earn just as much back in their own country. |

Yes. It means more people claiming benefits and even more competition to a find a job which is getting harder to find each day. |

You can track UKers' employment VS immigrant employment.
The number added up.
Paying lazy normal azzes(low wages workers can't afford to keep other people alive.)
Paying single mothers
and so on and on...
Plus other programs they invested to that doesn't gain much profit.
Unsure thing |

There are more migrant workers leaving the UK now than ever before thanks to the recession. The drain on our resources in previous years, by immigrants, due to certain tax loopholes certainly didn't help our ability to recover from the recession though. |

of course, you're apsolutly right, but, you should say same to uk citizens before they went to america, africa, asia and australia.. and you are late- 500years.. different time- but same problem.. and sides are changed..
good or bad, immigration is not possible to stop.. that's how history was made.. |

NO!
The contributions hard working immigrants make to our economy and society in general is often over looked and twisted because of racist personal agendas....like yours. |

I have two opinions on that.
without immigration, fruits and vegetables, milk, etc, al that stuff that immigrants usually do for a lot less money, would be much more expensive.
On the other side, because immigrants work for less money, that forces locals to accept job offers for less...
So it is not and it is. |

no. the economy does not work in this over simplistic way.
for example regarding the polish/lithuanians/kurdish etc who i work with . there national insurance & income tax contributions will be lost , they will not be spending money on other services for example gym membership, food shopping etc.
a reason there has been such an increase in immigration is that employers were struggling to fill vacancies with native workers. this is not to mention the benefits they bring with them, work ethic etc!
i am lucky in that i live in an area where is still plenty of work & there is no excuse for being unemployed. i went to my local unemployment office a while ago with a friend & there were very few foreigners but far too many english who have no desire to work. i could get them a job earning over £400 a week but as it is hard manual labour and night work there are vacancies which can only be filled by immigrants as the majority of locals who are out of work are not prepared to do it .
i have been told by the manager of the recruitment agency which operates at my employer that they have had to set up an office in poland in order to fill these vacancies.
i also believe that one of the reasons people have such a problem with these immigrants is that when they arrived here they were prepared to do the jobs the brits were not & that they are now settled in better jobs & earning good money.who would you employ someone who has worked hard in a demanding low paid job or someone with no work ethic who has been on benefits all his life!! |

If the UK didn't give automatic benefits to immigrants, it wouldn't be a problem. It should be that you have to live and work in the country for a MINIMUM of 2-3 years before you are allowed to get any benefits. Why should someone from Portugal or Poland be able to come to the UK and get job seekers allowance and housing? If you can't find a job or support yourself in the UK, then you should go back to your own country and try to get support there. |
