In the US it is illegal. Ploygamists in the US get around this by not formally marrying successive wives. The problem is that multiple wives is usually a religious doctrine. The old testament men all had multiple wives. |

It's illegal in all 50 of the United States, and there no federal laws on marriage. it is the provence of the states.
But there's nothing preventing any group of adults from 'just living together'; and no law against out-of-wedlock births.
so you could function as a de-facto family, without the rights and duties under marriage laws though.(inheritance etc) |

I think you have to divorce them as you go along, or marry them in a secret unlicensed way, or just play house and don't marry them. Otherwise it's polygamy to have more than one spouse in The United States; land of the free where you cannot smoke in bars, smoke marijuana, or cuban cigars, gamble, or even take hostages. |

Well it is illegal to remain married to 2 women at the same time in the US; UK and the other Commonwealth nations.
However, keeping 2 wives together is only acceptable in the Middle eastern countries. As they have Islamic Rituals and rites.

Sadly, it is illegal to have more than 1 wife, but that alone doesn't stop people from having more than 1 wife at once usually they'll marry one wife only. The other wife or wives usually live with the couple as well, but their marriages aren't legally recognized. Personally I'm all for having more than one wife or husband, men and women weren't meant to have a monogamous relationship, imo. Then again, if you don't want to have to step on eggshells just to keep yourself out of prison, then an open marriage might be the way to go. |
