Is it just me or is so cal begging to become northern mexico?

The best thing you can do is learn to speak spanish! You will need a language credit if you plan on going to college anyway. Yes explain it is rude, because it is. Lots of non-americans do this and it is rude. I hope we pass a law that English is the official language of the U.S- I was shocked to hear it wasn't but Spanish as a second language for anglos is a reality we are going to have to live with and is here to stay. As far as Cali turning into Mexico that will never happen. Here is some food for thought..... Most of California was at one time land belonging to Mexico. (along with most of texas, arizona and new mexico) When Santa Ana lost, the land was taken by the U.S.(literally taken, soldiers and rebels going up to houses and farmsteads throwing the occupants out by force saying this is ours now get out, but hey that is what happens in war) -- along with thousands and thousands of acres that formally belonged to Mexico. The U.S. is a nation of immigrants, and your forefathers immigrated here too. You have to expect that the demographics of our country will continue to change over time. I do think something needs to be done about illegal immigration. I also think Mexico needs to do more to develop it's own economy and corruption problems so that Mexicans would not be derperate to come here. If it weren't for those illegal immigrants, however, you would be paying $18 a pound for tomatoes and lots more for things like hotel rooms, all produce, restaurant meals and so on. If you are not liking the change in the population of where you live, this is America, nobody is making you stay here. You have 50 wonderful states to choose from, as well as any country around the world. This is something you will have to think about as you grow up.

Your Hispanic friends are being very rude. If they are in school here, they should speak OUR LANGUAGE! And no! America will not become Mexico. However, America needs to get serious about immigration laws for the security of our country. There is a world of terrists out there and we need to keep them out of our country. In order to do this, EVERYONE should be subject to strict immigration laws.

They were talking about you. Do you really need friends like that? You know back stabbing people come in every color. They know that they are being rude and they don't care. How many of them are legal citizens?
As for them taking Cal there will be a war on then. The American people will not stand for it.

Not just So. Calif., but Florida, Texas, Arizona, & New Mexico also have a large Latino population.

By the year 2050, the Hispanic/ Latino population will be the largest minority with 25% of US population. Right now it consist of about 13% of the US population. Someday they might be the majority.

Ten million Mexicans make five million couples. If each couple has six children (at least) that's thrty-five million in just twenty years. Whites are a minority in the county in which I live.

It's crazy isn't it!!! I live in Las Vegas and it's the same here.. I like the hispanic people but not when their being rude.. but then I guess every race has it's rude days.

OK, two different points. California is not begging to be northern Mexico because even the people who most remind you of Mexico worked really hard to leave Mexico. Mexico is not what they want.

Two, it is rude to speak a different language in front of a friend who doesn't know that language unless there is someone who doesn't know a language common to all. It is like telling secrets behind your hand.

If these are your friends, just tell them it hurts your feelings. They probably didn't think about it. (OK, now I feel like Ann Landers.)

And yes, Southern California is likely to be majority Hispanic at some point, if that is what you mean. Most will be Mexican Americans, though, not Mexicans.

Well, considering that Southern California used to BELONG to Mexico....maybe people are just coming HOME and if you don't like it...maybe YOU should....I don't know....go back to where YOUR FAMILY came from in the first place.

When it comes to your friends that speak Spanish in front of you, I suggest you tell them that it is considered rude to do that when someone does not speak the language.

No, our country is not going to turn into Mexico. You live in a place that is obviously very close to the border so of course you will have a large population of Mexicans in your class. In other parts of California, there are minimal numbers compared to So. CA.

yes, they are rude. it's not even a matter of assimilation anymore...it's about being polite to people. and they can't say it's because that's acceptable in their culture, courtesy and politeness is universal...it comes with proper breeding....class is something very taboo to them.

No it won't. CA is known to be the most diverse state in the nation when it comes to race, while you are dealing with too many Mexicans, Im here in a county that has too many Indians.

well they are having the immigration law, if it passed or passes, then in the next few years, there will be less spanish speaking people. and they will make the only language taht u can speak english. oh btw they are ooo talking about you in spanish

It isn't turning into Northern Mexico it already is. It is correct about the spanish speaking always laughing when they know someone does nt speak spanish. I would go to the meetings at work and spanish was spoken while I sat there like an idiot. I was told I should learn spanish and in fact the company bought me tapes to practice by. I guess if Congress gives in we will be living in Norther Mexico.
