the reason behind the power of the cartels is the cocaine usa buy from them (we seen that when they are caught their houses are full of millions and millions of dollars not pesos besides they confess that the great deal they do are in usa) and the power full armament that usa gives to them, (all the houndreds of weapons they have are traced to usa) |

Two factors: our appetite for drugs, and our refusal to implement gun control. We provide them with guns, they give us drugs. |

It is true that the US makes a great market for Mexican drug cartels, however, this is not why Mexico has failed to provide jobs for many of its people. The Mexican government and authorities serve the rich, only. These drug cartels turn to the black market because they don't have many options. |

Americans "demand" many goods and services that are LEGAL both here and in Mexico. So, how is it that enterprising Mexicans don't start businesses producing and selling THOSE products? Fact is, there are always people who will choose the "easy" (and often illegal) way to do something or get money--and Mexican drug- and people-smugglers are chief among them. |

Partly. This whole debacle could be solved with three easy moves:
1. Legalize all drugs
2. Put employers that hire illegals in prison
3. Secure the border.
The drug cartels would collapse. The "workers" would self-deport, most of them don't want to be here in the first place beyond making money. Stop the flow that would try to get in as Mexico descends into a much needed revolution. Prepare to welcome the new leftist leader of Mexico that would surely emerge to take power. Start doing more business with Canada. |

Hasn't Mexico's propensity to the production of illegal drugs been the culprit behind drug use among Americans? And Mexico's continued failure to industrialize ?
And why do we have an invasion of illegal, immoral, illiterate, uneducated criminal invaders? Are you going o blame hat on drugs too? |

Stop blaming the victims for the crimes. Those Americans who really want drugs can go other places to get them. The real problem is the smugglers who can - and often do - slip drugs into food & beverages to get people "hooked" and create a manipulated market for themselves. Not all druggies are victims, of course. Some knowingly choose to do drugs. But many are victims, not addicts by choice but by deceit of the smugglers.
And if it wasn't readily available, thanks to the smugglers and drug runners hired by the drug lords, many drug users would not use it.
Plenty of blame to go around here, folks. But the Mexican government's "blame the victim" approach is clearly counterproductive, and keeps the powers that be in that (and similar) countries well endowed with money and power at Americans' expense. Don't drink politicians' Kool-Aid - and that especially includes foreign politicians! |

The Fact That The U.S. Has An Appetite For Drug Abuse
Which Is Being Sated By Mexican Cartel Is Valid
BUT
You Cannot Blame The Mexican Nations Lack Of Industry On That Fact
In Fact, I Think There Is Plenty Of Industry In Mexico
http://www.country-data.com/cgi-bin/query/r-8747.html
The petroleum industry in Mexico makes it the sixth largest producer of oil in the world
and the tenth largest in terms of net export as of 2007.
It is the second largest oil producer in the Western Hemisphere
behind only the United States and just ahead of Canada.
However, Mexico is not a member of OPEC
or any petroleum production related organizations.
The oil sector is crucial to the Mexican economy;
while its importance has been reduced in recent years,
oil revenues generate over 10% of Mexico's export earnings

Is Mexico a "failed" state?
In general terms, the answer must be no -
if only because the state still controls most of its territory.
However, the situation becomes less clear if the actual,
close working of cities and institutions are examined:
The government of Felipe Calderón
is disoriented and passive (and participant)
in the face of the corruption, inequality and impunity
that bleed and debilitate society and the state.

No
Drugs making fortunes for Mexicans has nothing to do with their rate of industrialization. I'd even argue that it has helped capitalize the Mexican economy, since drug profits must be spent or invested somehow. |
