Is it possible for me to move to America when I currently live in the United Kingdom?

I want to move to America and i currently live in the United Kingdom. I am 16 and want to completet college then go on to University there but obviously i would be moving with my mother who has a job and everything. So is it possible for us to move there? If so how can i come around of doing this?

You have to apply for Visas and do the dance with Immigration. You just can't move here and live happily ever after. Its a long expensive process. Check with the INS website.

Honestly, it is a very bad idea to go to university in the US.

US students have to pay for all of their higher education. This will probably cost you at least $80,000 or 55,000 pounds for a Bachelor's Degree. Most US families save up for their child's entire life and then take out loans for the rest (loans which you probably won't be eligible for).

You'd be much better off attending university in the UK, and then moving to the US after you've gotten your degree.

However, if you wanted to move here now, your mother would have to find a job that would sponsor her to move to the US. This would be extremely difficult to do right now.

If you want to move here to attend university, you can get a student visa, but you must be accepted by a school and prove that you are able to pay all of your living expenses and all of your tuition yourself.

Anything is possible, but first you would both have to apply for visas (a student visa for you) in order to enter this country legally.

You need to call the nearest US Consulate or the US Embassy and speak to the people in the Visa office. They would know what you need to do to get permission to move to the States.

Moving to USA is not easy! If you wish to do tertiary studies you would be far better off completing these in your home country (due to high costs), and then move here after you complete your studies. Studying in USA is very expensive. If you wish to move to USA you will need a visa. Try for the diversity visa lottery and you may win a visa allowing you to move to the United States.
