First off James, I want to thank you for your pending service to this great country. As for your question, it is not racist because you want the immigration laws of the US to be enforced. I and I believe most Americans are for LEGAL immigration within the frame work of our laws. The open borders crowd try to frame their argument by painting all who oppose il-legal immigration as racist. Don't buy it!

It can only be patriotic as people entering our country illegally are breaking our laws and in some ways acting as an invader.

We have every right to protect our borders and people who choose to come to this nation and become Americans...need to do just that and really become American Citizens instead of say ...Mexicans who reside in the US.

Well it cannot be racist,how can it be racist to be against Criminal activity. Regardless of what others try to say Illegal Immigrants are common criminals,nothing more. I think it's entirely patriotic to be against those that damage your country.

As for joining the Army I would applaude any young man who chooses to serve their country. Plus the MLRS system kinda Rocks!!

Well honestly that depends. If you hate illegal immigrants because of their race, then you are being racist. If you hate them because they are breaking the law and leeching Americas infrastructure then you are being patriotic. BTW thanks for serving.

Actually I think it's common sense. No one would want anyone coming into their home & using up the resorces they have worked hard to provide for their family.
The bad thing is many people forget to (or fail) to see America as their home! They see it a piece of land.

If in the middle of the night someone tries to break into MY home to drain the resorces I use to provide my kids I am going to fight the intruder. Just because I have, doesn't mean you can take it! Also I'm going to know that there is a risk factor for my children which will strive me to fight this intruder harder.

I don't see why (more) Americans don't get it! Well I do but...that's a whole other topic :)

Well, you have to know the different between one or the other. Please check it before you go into the Army because then you are going to have problems, especially if you don't know the meaning of Patriotism. Good luck.

Racism is when you look at a person and think you know all about their character, interests, etc., because of their race.

Illegal immigrants come in all races and unless you think we should deport the illegals of one race and leave all the others, you are not racist to want an end to illegal immigration.

I want all the illegals to leave and that's not racist.

Congrats on your enlistment and thank you!! I think it is patriotic to be against illegal immigration. Anything that weakens America, is bad for America and is a patriotic response. Not all illegal immigrants are Mexican, but they're certainly the ones we know about. I have Hispanic friends who also are against illegal immigration for a variety of reasons. If you are against them because you don't like the Hispanic race; you could call it racist. If you just want what's right and best for America, and respect the race; it's patriotic.

It's certainly not racist to disagree with breaking the law. The implication that all illegal immigrants are the same race is racist.

I don't support rape, either, but no one has even considered accusing me of racism, all rapists are not the same nationality. It's the same way with illegal immigration. I hate illegal immigration regardless of the country from which the illegal immigrant came.

I think that it can be either. It is patriotic to defend our country against any perceived threat. However, it could be said that it is patriotic to help the down-trodden. It can be racist if you say, we should help everyone unless their skin is brown....

I have already expressed to you that I think you are being very brave and "noble" for enlisting at this point, when you know that the danger could be great.

I feel that America has taken the position of the "big brother' around the world. We provide money, arms, military to such a large percentage of the world. WE take care of everyone. I think that perhaps it would be in our best interest to pull some of the military out of countries where there has been no need for them for years and to get them involved where they can make a difference.

it is not racist to expect our laws be respected. i have nothing against the mexican people, i have mexican friends that are good people. but if the flood of illegals continues unchecked,

It cannot be racist to want illegals deported, illegal alien is not a race. Criminal is not a race. Even Mexican, which is the nationality that claims almost all of illegals in the US is NOT a race. You cannot be a racist against anything that is NOT a race!

Enjoy your stay at Ft. Sill, OK. You get to go to BOTH Basic Training and AIT over there. It should be nice and freeeeezing cold when you get there.
I didn't have basic there, but I had AIT there. 9 years later, I had to go back to Sill for FAOBC.

It is not racist to be against illegal immigration, unless you dislike/hate the race itself. I agree with you that America should start puttinig American citizens first. So why is it you enlisted? You are going to fight a war that does not put Americans first.

I don't think it has anything to do with racism or patriotism. It has to do with the law. Illegal aliens are just that "illegals" and the law mentions clearly that their are ways to live in the US legally through established laws and if you do not have one of them you are an outlaw and should be deported.
It is a matter of Law.

It's only racist if you are against them because you hate a certain race. Illegals are of all races. They come here not to be taken care of but to work and provide for their families. If America didn't offer them jobs, most businesses do because they work for less money thus keeping their costs down as well as consumer costs, they would have no incentive to come here.

It's neither racist or patriotic it depends on the person's reasons.
