Sanctuary cities should be outlawed. They are breaking the laws by rewarding criminal acts.

Federal law trumps state laws, and thus trump city law.

If there are serious difficulties immigrating to the US, then maybe we should take a look at how people do that. But, as there are many people who do come in legally, I have no care to an illegal immigrants reasons unless they are fleeing persecution by their own government or ruling power.

The term sanctuary cities is a term these cities have given themselves in an effort to placate immigration rights activists- all these cities really do is become a magnet for criminals.

Illegal aliens have only the right to leave this country not to live in this country- if they were interested in making America home perhaps they should have entered this country like the millions of legal immigrants.

Is it right to give sanctuary to people like Tin Man (the first to respond) when there are a lot of educated, productive people around the world going through the steps to get here legally?

Would you complain if you studied hard for a test so you could make a good grade, and someone else stole the test questions and got the same grade? That's how LEGAL immigrants feel.

I sympathize with people who are trying to work, but if you don't have rules and procedures, you have chaos. The laws the illegals are violating are federal, not municipal (city) laws, so the feds can enforce them if they want.

Yes they should leave. My Grandfather was an immigrant and he took the correct steps to legitimately obtain work as well as citizenship. People use the lack of money as a way to not go through the proper channels to come here but he was very very poor ans still managed to put through the correct paperwork.

These people commit fraud and many other crimes to gain the right to work here. They steal social security information and sometimes even ruin the credit of the person who that number may belong to.

A US citizen would go to prison for doing these things, and they complain because they are getting sent back and what's worse is that people feel sorry for them. Get here by legal means and claim discrimination and I will be sympathetic, but until then I'm not going to loose any sleep about those that are receiving a very minimal punishment.

Sanctuary cities are illegal. I never heard of such a thing till this fiasco. If people are FLEEING thier country and wanting to be here......file for asylum, speak English, abide by the laws, fly this countries flag...etc. Are we next going to have sanctuary cities for pedophiles, another for drug dealers, another for murderers, another where no drivers licenses and insurance is required, another for those who decide they won't pay taxes, pot smokers only city? I mean where does it end?

They came to this country illegally. That means that they are CRIMINALS. Sanctuary cities do NOT have the authority to ignore federal law. They are AIDING and ABETTING criminals and are also subject to federal law as CRIMINALS.

Cut off federal funds to the states that have "sanctuary cities" and see how long it takes those states to fix the attitudes of those cities.

No. Americans that are so worried about illegal immigrates are fooling themselves because we need people born and raised in other countries because American born people will not work for the wages that are paid immigrates.
We are a spoiled, insecure, lazy and selfish people at this point in our history and we are now blaming all of our problems on people who are willing and able to work for us at affordable wage levels.
America needs to go back to grammar school and start being reeducated into today's realities. We are not the boss of the world anymore and our current leadership is crazy to think that we can defeat a third world country by force of arms and end up in a better position as a country after the defeated people cry uncle loud enough.
First off, they are tougher than us, and they are basically just trying to survive. We on the other hand are trying to convince the world that it is OK to kill thousands of citizens of the world in an effort to make our lives even easier.
The problem is that we are making enemies of people who admired us just a few years ago. Americans are going to need a sanctuary city for themselves if things don't change in a relative hurry. About one more year of Bush and we are going to be up to are eyebrows in debt and worse.
