The story I heard is they did plan to pillage Italy for the nice weather etc; then decided against when Berlusconi won as he tends to be hardline (thank goodness). |

I really do not care, and if its true it can only be good for this country.
I do no have anything against people coming to UK to make a new life, as long as they learn the language, intergrate and accept our customs. Whats I do have a problem with, is East Europeans coming to my home city just to get free accomodation and benefits. They have no intention of making a life here and a lot of them turn to crime. Our local newspaper is full of these type of stories. People are well sick and tired of this.
So if Italy and any other country is granting anmesty - it's about time. The sooner we get rid of those who have no intention of accepting our way of life the better. |

I haven't seen that one. Italy has granted amnesty from time to time, but only for people who have been living illegally in the country for several years. A new amnesty seems unlikely, since Berlusconi won the election and he is (to say the least) a little right of centre. |

No. In February this year, three illegal Afghan immigrants were arrested as they tried to sneak out of the country.
“We cannot explain exactly why they are trying to go, but when some of them were questioned they said they wanted to go to a warmer country as they are fed up with the EngÂlish weather and fed up with their treatment on the NHS.†|

it's more to do with the lack of free money they can get and probably lack of work for illegals than awfull weather, and since when has the Iraq or Afghanistan NHS being better than ours??or anywhere for that matter, the whole story blown up to have a dig at the government.(again!) |

For those of you that think its good that they are leaving for Italy im afraid you havent quite grasped the situation.
If Italy has an amnesty its not just an amnesty for Italy its an amnesty for the whole of Europe. Meaning they may have failed in their applications to the UK but once granted an amnesty in Italy they are free to come back to the UK to live permanently. |

The big problem is the Govt won't let them go...they have to cheque first that they are not wanted criminals....Great so they stay in UK...We have enough of our own home grown criminals without adding to them!
BTW...they say they are not happy besauce they can't get to see a doctor immediately and can't get dentists...Oh and they don't like the cold wet weather!
Basically it isn't the land of milk and honey that they thought it was! |

maybe so but as soon as they have italian nationality they are right back here beacuse as a eu person they can.
so we end up with all of them anyway. |
