Is it true that immigrant's or illegal workers do the jobs that no Americans want to do?

I'm sick of that race card too!!! It's not that Americans won't do those jobs, it's just that they won't do them for as little money (which they shouldn't). The reason that illegals work for so little is because they are illegal. I'm sure that if you offered those jobs to homeless and unemployed Americans that they would accept. And if they refuse to do that kind of work.... let them be homeless without any social services then.

no that is not really a accurate statement.. there is many americans that do jobs noone else will do..like those who do not have a college education..or those who dropped out of high school and cant find good paying jobs that are nice.. so they take jobs noone else will to put food on the table

the problem is not with the immigrants it is with the bosses paying them low wages.americans want the jobs but are not willing to do them for 2 dollars an hour.the question is why is our government allowing the hiring of illegals.that is what needs to change.if there were no jobs for them they would not come.they could stay home and smoke thier soon to be legal dope and leave us alone.i have nothing against immigrants just illegals.

All I have to say is that I would rather die then work as a landscaper or in fast food as an adult. I have my pride. I would pick vegetables or fruit though as long as it wasnt near the public where people could see me :P

Yeah, there is nothing worse than trying to talk to someone that doesn't speak English. I don't know any sort of foreign language, except some of the curse words :) ha ha.

NO! Most people will work at any job as long as it pays a decent wage. I myself used to earn $20 an hour. Then my job ended due to a reduction in force, and now I earn $6.40 an hour. But if no one would work for cheaper than minimum wages, they would be forced to pay a decent wage to everyone. Look at all the Wal-mart employees who qualify for foodstamps and welfare because they don't earn enough!

1ST OFF: the vast majority of Americans are immigrants or descended from immigrants and there are about 260 million of us here.
Then you have a large group of people that have applied for a work visa or permits to stay in this country such as the H series visa.
Then you have some 12-20 million Illegal Invaders, workers (how can you count people that work underground and are undocumented) want ever you want to call them is different subject altogether.

THE MISTAKE is when you are being told this, the person telling you is simply grouping them altogether so that would include just about all of us.

So I would say whoever tells you that hasn't got a clue to what they are saying or they are starting out lying straight to your face, which makes the rest of what they told you unimportant.

no, it's just that as americans, we demand fair pay. companies emply illegals for the same reason they outsource. they get more manpower for the money, and they're more concerned with lining their own pockets than their employees'.

Illegals draw welfare by stealing people's social security numbers and identities. That means there are a lot of people being directly hurt by these people as well. Innocent people are having their credit ratings ruined, having IRS problems, and social security problems. If someone who has had their social security number stolen gets married, if either spouse dies or become disabled then they can be denied their benefits.

My family moved to the US before WWII. Those of my family that didn't make it over got killed by the death camps. Our family assimilated to the American culture. We didn't expect the Americans to change to suit us. The illegal immigrants from Mexico are not civilized like that.

They not only changed the National Anthem to Spanish, they changed the words. They already burn our flag and hang our flag upside down. They waved the Mexican flag during a lot of their protests. Some schools have stopped hanging the American flag and forbidden students from wearing clothes with any part of the American flag on their clothing all to keep from offending the Mexicans. It's nothing short of an attack of our country, not only by the illegal aliens, but those who seek to appease them.

I am tired of the stereotype that Americans wouldn't do the work that illegals do. Illegals do all kinds of jobs for less than minimum wage which drives the wages down for U.S. citizens. Construction jobs are an example. There are lots of illegals doing construction jobs that Americans used to do because the companies can keep more of the profits if they pay less for the workers. All that does is make companies wealthier and Americans poorer. Illegals are stealing jobs that Americans have done for years.

If you go to a country and refuse to assimilate, continuing to speak your own language then you are really not an immigrant -- you're a colonist ... and that's what the Mexicans are doing, they're colonizing the American Southwest as part of their "reconquista" Read about mecha in the link I provided and you'll see what the Mexicans real agenda is.

Well, some americans are lazy sometimes...

So, what is every looking at the past err, month or less on magazines and newspaper? Mostly all where covered with titles relative to immigrants right? Well, what's your opinion? Immigrants STAY!, or Immigrants GO AWAY!? For me, if you know me well enough, I would say stay. It would also depend on the situation though. If they came over here and gave birth right away so that they could be an llegal immigrant, I would go with the opposite. Did any one of us though about how each of us got here? Some are pure American but can you say your a Pure One? We each have someone in our past generation that had been an immigrant and if that ancestor DIDN'T get caught and forced back, they were illegal. So, how would you feel if you where him or her back then facing that point? It's not pleasant to be force out of where you might of worked hard to get there,

So, who would ever liked to be forced away? Although we might be illegal immigrants once, the country gave us a chance, the chance to stay. If you really were one, you know how it feels if they made you go back, so, why are would you even force or illegal immigrants back. It's like pushing yourself back too.

My family is not an illegal immigrant from China(got permission). So, I am really soft-hearted towards things like immigrant related because I am from a different country too. And that's what makes the world a family. Different cultures and everything. I wouldn't be so mean towards them because our U.S. is already in some rumors and so, if we just now force all illegal immigrants back, them there might be a possible rumor of that their pushing them back because of their different races. We wouldn't want that.

This is just a simple story but it might mean a lot to some people.

Also, if we had to fix the problem, it might be strengten the security border. (it's quite low right now in U.S.) Or if we had to push some out, who? I don't know because we're saying that immigrants take away americans' jobs but who is really the one who is not working? It might be some Americans who are so lazy to wake up. We've all been lazy, face the truth.

Also, it can be that Americans are "High" leveled and thus, they don't want to work at such an embarrassing job or whatever. But immigrants or whatever just got here so they don't have anything. they might want any job so they can earn money and buy a house......

In states where there are few illegal workers, Americans and legal residents do all of those jobs, even now. Illegal workers get work not because Americans are lazy, but because illegal workers, having less recourse, undermine the pay scale legals are willing to take.

A new Zogby poll that came out yesterday on the two proposed immigration bills asked (amongst other things) about whether people thought Americans would be willing to do all of the jobs illegal immigrants do if the wages were fair.

Of those earning above $75,000 per year, only 61% thought Americans would do those jobs (still a majority.) However, of those making $50K to $75K, 76% thought yes Americans would do those jobs, of those making $35K t $50K, 82% thought the same, of those making $25K to $35K, 80% thought so too,

...and of those making below $25,000 per year 90% thought Americans would do those jobs.

On a different division, between whites, blacks and Hispanics, Hispanics were most likely to think Americans would not do those jobs. However, even amongst Hispanics, 65% thought Americans would do those jobs.

no they just are willing to do it a price no america will or can afford to work for. You see mexicans can afford to work for almost nothing because they cluster together. I see it all the time in the area I live (SC). They live in trailers, shi-ty ones at best which are very cheap to live in. What makes the mexican special is they pack 15 to 20 head in a trailer. Really it's a marvel or team work and dedication. It's like a submarine only more cramped. This is how they afford to live. They group together and With their combined income between 15-20 of them they can afford rent. This is why no american with a family can afford to do the jobs a mexican does.
