Yes. As a grandchild of Irish immigrants, I think legal immigration is what built our nation and I encourage it across the board. |

Immigration is good for the US when done equally for everyone, but to concentrate on only one country is wrong, this country should be open to all immigrants not only people from mexico, when one race outnumbers the rest,it throws the balance of power their way and the rest will not be heard, our nation should be represented by every race living in it,no matter where they come from. |

Right now I think the immigrant mexicans are the modern equivalent to slavery, remember this none of you guys ancestors came from here, so in essence we are all immigrants. I hear all these people talking about my country this and my country that, lets be honest this is a stolen country built on the backs of stolen people, we should welcome people who willingly come into our country and perform work that some of us call demeaning. |

This isn't just about Mexicans. I keep reading all over about Mexico and the immigration policy. Our countries has people from probably every country here illegally. Some of them come here legally and overstay, exc. Fixing the immigration policy is defiantly good for the US. |

The government sets up non sponsored immigration based on how they will better this country. I don't agree always with their analysis, but the principle is good. |

Nope! They are a drain on our economy and they haven't been screened for diseases that they might be bringing in to our country, or screened for a criminal background.
They send a lot of their income home to their families in "their" country, and few pay any taxes here. Their flooding our country causes others, who are waiting and going through the system legally, must wait longer because we can only absorb so many per year, and they're running ahead of the line! They are breaking our laws, pure and simple, while our government looks the other way!
Nope... I say, "Round 'em up and ship 'em home, right now!" |

Yes, this country needs immigrants (not only Mexican immigrants) how you think this country was made. This country was not born with only white people. It comes from many heritage and many diffrent cultures and customs and Mexicans are apart of that. Besides the Mexican immigrants help with the economy of this country just like every one else. |

It is like a seive, a cooking instrument that has many holes in it to allow the slow but constant dripping of liquid. Allowing any integrity of our countries borders to be broken is not good for our country. Anything monetary related is exception if you are one of the Controllers (leaders). Capitalism is the disease that is eroding this countries abilities to see its state. Can you actually buy that when they tell you the borders are monitored to everyone but Mexico. That would be a bit shallow. Truth is the Mexican immigrants may do better in our country and bring some positive things to the table but the concept is the borders in this country mean nothing except geographical markers of land. This country at a point in time had quotas for immigration and slowly has deteriorated. With a hand in the air waving we have opened our borders to all and all the people who recognize it do is *****. Do they realize that the proble is not going to fix itself or just go away, the immigrants do! Wow, what a weapon that must be against the land of opportunity. We need to go back to the plan and basics to heal our country! The Constitution of the United States of America. |

Legal immigration is a positive thing. When countries determine which people and how many they can successfully incorporate into thier economy and society, then the diversity is a positive. It is the illegal immigration from any source that is the problem. |

I think so, yes. People who immigrate legally are checked out to make sure they're reputable people who will make a positive contribution to their community. I think most Hispanic people are like most people of any ethnic group. Want to earn a living, do what's right, raise their kids right, have a decent life. So please, all you good hard working folks apply for citizenship legally. We can always use good people. |

Definitely! The U.S. is a melting pot and has been made up of people from all over the world for decades. The important and "operative" word here is LEGAL!!! |

Yes. LEGAL immigration is great for the US. We are a nation of immigrants and we are welcome to those who want to join our society in a way that is within the law. If you want to become a US citizen and enter our country in a lawful manner then there is absolutely no reason why that is bad for the US. |

Yes when any ethnic group comes here legally it's good for our community, it boosts our economy, and it creates awareness of different cultures. Now illegally is a totally different story, and if anyone wants to help do something about it please check out my website. http://www.getmycountryback.com |

heres my take
laws to be any good must be implemented properly
a) penalize and fine employers for hiring illegals. these companies only have themselves in mind and really do not care for these workers (no benefits). fines should be increased to us$1M per violation(the bigger the fine, the less likely the company would even think of breaking the law). it is just plain wrong to penalize illegals.
b) increase the number of h-1 visa acceptances. the usa has the most number of graduate students in the fields of science and technology and yet they are forced to return due to immigration limits. the usa must remain competitive
c) to address the type of work, the typical american wont do, a comprehensive guest worker program must be put into place. minimum wage with benefits, no ifs and buts. workers have a workers id which they can use to enter and leave the country.
d) be good and follow the law, pay your taxes, show that you are truly deserving to be an american. |

Yes because as long its legal! If they are here illeally then they need to go back where they came from! Most Americans aren't willing to do the work that immigrants are willing to do! SO i say why not let them come here and work! It doesnt hurt if americans were so worried about losing jobs to immigrants they would be doing the work themselves and willing to accept the pay! |

In response to those posters who say immigration from any country is a good thing, I disagree. The originating country matters a lot. Immigrants who are poor, but who come from generally successful nations are a benefit. Immigrants who are poor, who come from poor nations or failed states will be a drain on this nation in the long run. The original immigrants were poor but were from powerful nations. Today's poor immigrants are from desperately poor countries. Big difference |
