JD, the left-wing activist are working very hard to make it a racial slur. I don't know where you live, but here in Dallas, I listen to KLIF radio. Gregg Knapp had Domingo Garcia, who is activist in the boycott and is currently representing an illegal immigrant who was arrasted by the cops. You HAVE to listen to this podcast to see the flagrant attempt by Garcia to equate illegal alien to the N-word. It is incredible. I promise it is not spam or a virus: Dallas Lawyer Domingo Garcia

NO. Alien is a LEGAL term and ILLEGAL describes the activity. I will continue to use the term no matter who says it is a slur. If it is a slur, then so be it. I will not yield to illegals' desires. |

No. Illegal Alien is an official term used for some one who is in any country without first visiting a border checkpoint or customs post and producing the required credentials, reason for the visit, or declaring any items that may be illegal. |

No - but it seems to be a hot topic these days doesn't it? |

In my opinion, although it is a legal term i find it to be racist and primitive, Why not change the term to "Illegal Immigrant"? We are all apart of the human race!! |

There's only one Race so if it is a slur it's a slur against all Homo Sapiens |
|

No, it is a status of being. |

No. It simply means someone who is somewhere illegally.
Illegal - not lawful
Alien - foreigner, misplaced being.
Not a racial slur...sorry |

Well formally it is a legal term. But it can be used to insult people or discriminate them. I explain myself: being black is a fact or being Asian is a fact, being illegal alien in another country is a fact. But the thing becomes a racial slur when you say someone with discriminate connotation "hey you Asian!" "hey you black guy" or "hey you illegal alien!". The same way that it would be a racial connotation to tell you hey Indian or hey you Apache. The problem is that the words may mean lots of things depending on the context you use them, and who uses them. So probably nowadays illegal alien maybe considered a racial slur if you use it in a discriminative proposition particularly with a Mexican or Hispanic. |

No, Alien means: a foreigner, unfamiliar, being from another world or country. Anyone who illegally immigrates to another country, regardless of race is considered an "Illegal Alien" |

Yes, if the reference is synonymus with decsription of one particular racial group. Recent public outrage has lead to use of this word interchangeably with "Mexican". In which case, the term is being used in a derogatory manner which would make it a racial slur.
Words by themselves have no impact but if the reference in which the words are used is viewed to be derogatory, then the word at the time it was used was intended as a slur. |

No, it is not a slur, but the pro-illegal crowd are trying to change the term to "illegal immigrants." This term implies that they are immigrating, but I don't see how they can immigrate unless they are here legally. |

No it is just something the politically correct people in our country want to get rid of because it might offend someone. They need to get over it in my opinion. |

Of course not. There's no mention of any race in that phrase. |

It should have been "Illegal Resident Alien". Though it is a official term used by the U.S Government, the first time I heard it, I thougt it refered to 'Aliens from outer space'. |

I don't think so, but, when you use that phrase, it sounds as if you are talking about an extraterrestrial. |

Its a legal term no more no less. It refers to those that are in a country illegally from a different country. NOT ANY PARTICULAR RACE! |
|

No, it is about a persons status. If process is followed, you are legal, if it is not you are illegal. In the United States, it does not indicate race. It is just that a vast number happen to be of Latin extraction. It is the more "Radical or Race sensitive" that try to make the phrase not PC. Remember, you are entitled to free speech. Which does include offending people. |

Sounds more like a "SPATIAL SLUR" OR A "INTER-GALACTIC SLUR"
to me. |
