I've just been wondering, I couldn't find the answer any where to whether social anxiety or depression would be classified as a serious mental illness, that would cause denial of a fiance visa if the person the foreigner is marrying has it.

only if it affects your ability to earn a living so that you wouldn't be able to file a sufficient affidavit of support. actually, normally the interviewing officer focuses only on whether the applicant might have a serious mental illnesses, so even if you were schizophrenic or bi-polar, it wouldn't affect your ability to file a petition or get married. |

I would not say it is a serious mental illness, however it is a problem that many have. Unfortunately, most people ignore it while it gets worse and worse.
Social anxiety is triggered by blushing or vice versa. So, anyone who can stop one or the other can lead a normal life without any worries. It is actually quiet easy to cure these problems, I found you couple of books you should read and enjoy being cured from this social phobia.
