Is there an EASY way to get a marriage visa for an American and UK citizen?

I've done the research, talked to my state representative and read up on the immigration website but it looks like there is a TON of paperwork and then you MAY or MAY NOT be approved.. how does that even work? If we were to get married this summer both here in the US and there in the UK, how long would it take for our respective visas to process (or just mine if we were to reside in the UK)?? I want to be able to work as soon as possible.
Any ideas?

You have to decide where you plan to live - the US or UK. In either country you are going to have to file a lot of paperwork. If you have proof that you have known each other for a while, copies of plane tickets, stamps in passports, pictures together, emails from each other, etc that show you are a real couple, then there is no reason you shouldn't get approved in either country. Plus the fact that you are both from developed countries is a plus. If one of you were from a poor country, it would be more difficult if that country is known for a lot of instances of marriage fraud, forced marriage, etc
If you plan to stay in the UK, your fiance has to file a fiance visa for you in the UK and you need to get married within 90 days of arriving. After you are married, you apply for a spouse visa and can start working as soon as that is granted. |
