I'd like to ask him what he thinks defines a race then. Look at the term "caucasian". Where the heck is Caucasia? I've never been there.
Middle eastern shouldn't be considered a race because it's a region, but we all know middle eastern people as typically having a darker complexion, and they are from that region. How about asian? Asia is a continent which also contains Russia. Are we to believe just because it is located in Asia that Russian are actually asian? No.
I guess your teacher could use latino instead of hispanic, but there are plenty of Southern Americans who find the term latino offensive. |

No there is no hispanic RACE. Hispanics would like to think they are an individual race when in fact, "if" they are educated, they know being hispanic is a CULTURE-- the religion and language are the same.
A race has different languages and religions but the people are similar, such as Asian or African. |

Hispania was originally a name for the Iberian Peninsula, given by the Roman Empire. In modern times, it has evolved to the adjective "hispanic" in reference to areas basically conquered by Spain.
It is a cultural adjective, not a racial category. |

According to my Anthropology Professor there are three races of humans defined by their physical characteristics. These are Mongoloid, Caucasoid and *******. You are either a member of one of these races or a mixture of them. "Hispanic" is an ethnicity i.e. a sub group belonging primarily to the Caucasian race. |

There is actually no such thing as race at all, but Hispanic people are mainly European (Spanish) in origin, so they are 'white' if you want to use the race concept. |
