My friend will get his permanent visa for USA under dv lottery. Now is it necessary for him to promptly move to USA? He wants to go to UK for a couple of years for completing his final studies. Is this possible for him to first complete his studies and then move to USA???

Thx kitty and javed for ur responses, and desperate too.. Actually the course that he is following is a professional accountancy degree called ACCA and it is not being taught in USA. Is there any exception in this case to go abroad for schooling??

No, he has to move to the US or his visa becomes invalid and he will have to reapply. He has to arrive in the US by September 30th of the year his visa is valid.
How does he know he got a visa under the DV lottery? Results for 2010 have not even been mailed out yet. They don't get mailed out until May-July. If he does get a letter, then he has to move to the US between January 1-September 30, 2010
If he was accepted under the 2009 program, then he needs to move to the US by September 30, 2009. There are no extensions available
And when he is in the US, he cannot go overseas to go to school for a few years or he will lose his green card. Why not just study in the US? |

It is preferred that he first go to United States and secure a legal status, otherwise he may lose his chance for a permanent residency under DV Lottery Program.
For continuing education, he may join any college or university in United States, because plenty of educational institutions are also available in States.
In UK your friend will be considered as International Students and will pay more than the citizens. |
