Oh, if that is the case, shouldn't we get upset if we visit America and see all the thousands of flags that they are proud to fly?? This is just plain silly. Next thing we know, it will be offensive to speak English in our own country!!! If immigrants are offended by our normal culture, they can go elsewhere, although they will still face the same situations in most countries in the world. This reminds me of the great message that was in the song, Melting Pot by Blue Mink. Basically the song suggests that we would all benefit from embracing each other's cultures and being able to all live together, no matter what our beliefs were.

as a true brit and ex serviceman i salute your stand. we should have a national flag week where every one gets to fly their flag of choice. but the british home flags should be able to fly all year round. no exceptions.

call me racist but i think that they shouldn't have gone to the uk in the first place.
if they don't like it, that is there problem and why should we really care anyway. if they have such a big problem they should go back from where they came from.

Not racism but it certainly makes the situation worse, because it paints people in an unfair light, most of the time its not them complaining its some white middle class idiot that makes up all these rules to be Politically Correct, ive never come across anybody that would be offended by the british flag or nativity play or baa baa black sheep, in fact any immigrants ive spoken to about it has just laughed and thought it was ridiculous. They chose to live here and live our way of life, they want to blend in not have all these things changed to suit them, it makes them feel inadequate

Actually the immigrants don't give a fig if we put up flags or not, it's all stirred up by racist tabloid journalism with myths about 'winterval' etc, most Muslims have no problem with British culture at all and Christmas just gives them a few extra days holiday in the coldest time of the year which no one argues with.

how do u know that they are offended by the Union jack or stuff like that. they all know this is a part of the british culture. Some moslems may not go to pub, but that does not mean next the govt will say 'let's close all the pubs coz some people do not go there as its against their culture!!'. these people have not asked the govt to close the pubs!!!! but again the ignorant public will blame them, rather than taking it on with the govt.
