Jobs British people won't do?

Jobs British people won't do?

So according to the pro-open-borders crowd, we "need" mass immigration because British people "won't do" certain jobs.

We are, supposedly, either all highly educated, successful blue collar workers who won't get their hands dirty - or lazy, stella drinking, chav scroungers and no British person would do manual or low paid work anymore.

Funny that. My bins have just been emptied by local Welsh boys. Our road is currently being dug up and the builders are all Welsh. When I was in hospital after having my baby, the cleaner came into clean my room and she was . . guess what . . . local and Welsh. (Did a smashing job too, the toilet was shining!), My neighbour (local, Welsh) wipes elderly peoples' bums in a care home, as did my partner's (Welsh) ex girlfriend. My partner (white English) drives vans for minimum wage. My brother (Welsh) is a music student who works in a carpet warehouse part time.

Fancy telling these people that they "don't exist"?

Beautifully said Lady, I whole heartily agree with you and another thing that riles me..I have a Friend who has just qualified as a nurse who cannot get a job in her local hospital due to the mass influx of nurses from Africa (who may I add are inherently lazy and do the very minimum of work without a hoot of care for the patients), so Mr Brown well done on ballsing this once mighty country up...and well done lefty voters you must be so proud!!!!

Of course there are plenty of people in this country who do manual work. I`m one of them. I work as a Housekeeper for a small hotel, so i mainly just clean bedrooms,
There are obviously lots of people claiming benefits who could do these type of jobs, but until a government gets tough and starts cutting benefits for those who refuse to work, the immigrants are going to fill the vacancies.
The other issue is when are employers going to start paying better wages to attract local people to do these jobs. A lot of them are happy to use cheap labour from abroad.
A lot of immigrants are doing the unglamourous jobs like cleaning hospitals, working in care homes. Its allright for people in well-paid office type jobs to say local people should do them. Would they, clean up vomit, blood and worse for just over the minimum wage. I don`t think so!!!

Yeah, British people don't want to work in computers, so the companies lay them all off and replace them with cheap third worlders.

When they say these are jobs British people don't want, they mean "these are jobs that we can hire foreignors to do for a lot less and get a nice tax break for it"

It has long been the case that people blame the British workman for all sorts of things. he is workshy he is drunken, he is unskilled and strike prone.

The truth is that immigrants will always take low paid jobs in poor conditions until they get something better or learn the true value of the work they do, at that point you see a dramatic change they become stroppy, arrogant, bone idle etc. Unless a new wave comes in and they then become God's gift to the economy and so it goes on.

The decline in British manufacturing is due to a number of economic forces and not a few managerial courses. To many managers feel that their university degree means that the man on the shop floor knows nothing and they know it all. It may be true that the man on the shop floor does not have the ability to fine tune an idea and that is debatable but naturally idle drunken and stupid he is not

Totally agree and find it insulting to hear that I do not want to do jobs that I have done in the past.
Have a well educated friend who went for a job working on the tills in a supermarket. She said she can work two days a week due to childcare commitments, they did not give her the job as she was unwilling to be at their beck and call due to her young children. Of course the job goes to an immigrant with no family ties. When employers say noonne is willing to do a job, all too often it means theyt are unable to come in at a moments notice.

It was a mistake, immigrants are a cost to real British people especially after increased house prices are taken into consideration.

Even pro mad immigration Gordon Brown had to admit that we get only £100 a year each from all the millions of immigrants now in the UK, this is cancelled out by the extra costs for immigrants such as medical expenses , schooling, crime etc.

You want won't do?

Ok. There are a lot of fish processing factories in Aberdeen and around the northeast of Scotland. They're populated by a few locals and a lot of eastern Europeans. Why? Because it's well documented up here that the factories could only fully staff their operations by recruiting from Europe because local people simply did not want to work in a refrigerated factory for what were frankly bloody decent wages. One factory in particular had advertised locally and nationally for months before giving in and recruiting abroad. They were given nothing but abuse from locals, a lot of whom thought, like you, that it was nothing but a pack of lies that locals didn't want the jobs. They, on the other hand, had kept very careful records of applicants and they handed the evidence to the local newspapers.

Incidentally, I'm not surprised it's local lads who work on the bin runs. You have any idea how well that pays these days? Ditto for building. And it takes a very special kind of person to be willing to wipe geriatric @rses, and I'm damn sure not everyone in your apparently saintly neighbourhood would do it.

And while I'm quite happy to believe it's all local people working around your area, I reckon you ought to take off those rose tinted specs you're wearing and realise that it's not the same everywhere and lazy, dole scrounging scum live somewhere.
If it's not round your way, consider yourself exceptionally fortunate.

Its partly that, but also all these new immigrants are labour supporters (if they get a citizenship) and all those who are on benefits are labour supporters - Labour just want to stay in power and they don't care how they do it.

Good on you Lady - it's about time someone pointed that out. And I wholeheartedly agree with you.

FOA:THE EARL : Government officials keep bumping their gums about immigrants being good for the economy. How CAN it be when a great percentage of these immigrants (the ones who actually WORK) send half their wages home to Poland, etc, so that's a whole load of dosh that doesn't get spent HERE!!!! Then you've got Child Tax which is paid to loads of accounts OUTWITH GREAT BRITAIN, so how the feck can THAT be good for the economy? Last but not least, you've got the tossers who come here with no intention WHATSOEVER of working, immediately claim all the benefits going and jump every queue for Housing, etc. HOW CAN THAT BE GOOD FOR THE BLOODY ECONOMY?

I agree wholeheartedly with you, I just hope that with the local elections coming up that people wont wimp out and not vote, but actually go and vote against this lot of toerags.

The only reason they want more immigration is beacuse in the end they are the only people who will vote for them.

Can we not have a campaign, to get Labour out (after all who did vote for BROWN???)

The truth is that people who live here know what it costs to get to work, pay the rent, buy a loaf of bread etc. Many of the people coming have no work at all. having relocated are able to 'live' near where the job is, work extra hours at short notice (as they do not often have household duties or children to go back to) and stay in crowed conditions so they can send money home.
At the other end of the scale many migrant workers are highly skilled and educated and get better pay and conditions for being a radiologist/teacher/or self employed builder in the UK than they can in any of the 8 countries that we opened our borders to.

We do need many of these workers because government policy has failed to train our people for the work available and has enabled people to have a very high standard of safety net compared to many other countries.
What I object to is the complete lack of controls and the lies that we couldn't have forseen the difficulties around infrastructure and integration becuase they only thought 14,000 would come not 190,000 a year net increase.
Only a moron would fail to see 20Million unemployed accross Eastern Europe and imagine that 2% might be bright enough to seek work.
We should though be grateful in some ways as the majority arriving are hard working respectable people.
Yes the crims have come with guns/knives and prostittues and even more drugs but that is not the fault of decent folk.

I do agree though that British people are being given bad press but who can you vote for as an objection?

The Monster Raving Looney party as a protest vote is looking more attractive by the day!!!

We get the same line of rubbish from the "open borders" crowd in the US. Apparently, some of the jobs we "won't do" involve landscaping, construction work and farming.

I have 2 degrees and own an organic farm. I hope nobody tells my very legal, very American employees that we are doing jobs that every other American won't do. I might be in trouble.

Apparently, the coal mine owners in West Virginia also decided that coal mining was something that Americans won't do and started bringing in non-union illegal aliens to work at a quarter of the union wage. The miners there took care of that situation in short measure.

Its not that they 'wont do the jobs' its more a case of the 'dont have' to do the jobs. Our benefit system has caused this and given these lazy chavs a reason not to work. Did you see the programme 'the poles are coming'. One scene where the presenter went outside a job centre and tried to get local lads to work on a farm for £7 an hour and they said "id rather sign on". We dont need the poles here, we have more than enough people to do the jobs. Added to the fact that there are too many people going to university for a 3 year p**s up and studying philisophy or some useless c**p. We dont need any poles, czech or whatever, we have the people here, lets get people into jobs that need to be done.

Ladymoonlight - why do you get yourself so hot and bothered about this? Not all immigrants are bad and it's not their fault that things are the way they are. My husband is an immigrant and we are expecting our first child - he works very hard and we are just a normal family. We are not scroungers and he has just as many british friends as he does friends from his own country. He has integrated well in British society - I am just asking that you try to understand that not all immigrants are the same and there is a flip side of the coin. My husband has a job here because he works hard and he deserves it just as much as any British person. I wouldn't change him for anybody - I hope your problem is with the government and not all immigrants. Not all immigrants are the same and they are not all from the same country - they are all individuals with different reasons for being in the UK.

And also, i hope you realise that there is a difference between EU Immigrants and international immigrants( with the exception of asylum seekers) - my husband is non-European and cannot access the benifits system (and he wouldn't claim even if he could) - He is too proud and prefers to work.

The latest report has confirmed our suspicions that the loony lefts justification for uncontrolled immigration and the supposed 'benefit' to this country, is lies. Why we haven't staged a coup and ousted these Traitors from Government office I don't know. Brown is finishing the ruination of this country B-liar begun.

Well said, my wife works in a nursing home, she gets 10p above the minimum wage, Russians, Poles, and South Africans are also employed there, and because the nursing home give them accommodation and one meal a day, they take a vast amount of money off these people, they might earn the basic wage, but the only receive a fraction of it.

Eeyore
Well you can't type cast people can you 'cos I am white English and I used to be, until 6 months ago, a cleaner in an old people's home and my husband, who is an immigrant, works in a well paid skilled factory job. The idea of doing what I used to do would horrify him! No way would he do what I did!

danor
,I am not disagreeing with you but there are a hell of a lot of jobs in the UK today that pay less wages than you can get by being on benefits. Actually I know a few people who came off benefits and really wanted to work only to find out they were worse off to the tune of twenty to thirty pounds a week.
The joke is the law says what you need to live on, but when it comes to earning wages it doesn't apply if you are on less money than benefits

Extra low skilled workers do reduce the pressure on wages increasing, so they will stay low for longer. It is great for the economy, but I'm not sure about the standard of living for low income workers.

UK needs to have some control about EU immigration. It would help if there was more incentives to integrate - especially learning English.

Ñusta
I agree with Penelope.

It's funny but I've been thinking along these lines recently as well.

Everyone I know works. They work hard. They are plasterers, carpenters , factory operatives, bricklayers, ground workers, window cleaners, etc etc etc.

They are also almost exclusively White, indigenous, English.

Who says we won't work. I get my hands dirty every day as do all 30+ of my colleagues.( mind you it isn't low paid work!!)

But the point is we will/are working. Our work ethic is amongst the best in the world. If the Gov't are bringing in immigrants to replace those on benefit that won't work the simple answer is to stop paying benefits.

albali
Have a friend who runs a large bakery in the South West. He just cannot get local people to do the manual work. More than half his work force are Polish because the locals don't want to do night shifts or crimp pasties.

I did not believe their were such jobs until I saw a program on TV showing immigrants harvesting leeks in East Anglia. I am certainly glad I do not have to do something like that!

Brits will do these jobs providing the wages are right, and not the minimum they pay the Eastern Europeans, who are not just here for a days work, but for all the other benefits the UK offers, like family credits payments that they can send back to their own country and that's worth more than they can earn in 6 months of working in their own country. Don't get me wrong, who can blame them, but surely the government has got it wrong yet again, as our prisons are at bursting point from inmates, surely we could put these people to work on the farms as part of their sentence, as they do in the USA, hard labour, this would make them pay for their crimes and possibly stop them from re offending, whilst being of use to their community. or are we too soft in this country to put these offenders through such a harrowing experience.!!! Its also nice to hear the truth, that Brits are not afraid of hard work, thanks for your question.
