hey, I have a couple questions about the K-1 fiancee visa
My fiance is America and I'm a Canadian citizen and we plan on getting married. However I have some questions about the visa.
How long does it take for me to get the visa and get married?
I know that once I get the visa I have 90 days to get married, but how long does it take to get the visa?
Can I still visit him when applying for the Visa?
Is it any different or harder to get a K-1 Visa if he is in the US Air Force?

Hi,
the k1 visa process cost around $1,100. It take 6 to 9 months to be approved....but hold on...you fiance is in the Air Force? Perfect you can ask for expedite and it will take 3 months. Just call USCIS and they will tell you what papers to send for expedite.
Visiting during the k1 in process is up to the officer at the custom. Usually Canadian citizein don't have many problems. Make sure you bring evidence that you intend to return home when you cross the border and say that you applied for K1 visa and you want to do things properly. |

on average, you will wait about less than a year (6-9mos) from the time of application to approval. then you have to go to an interview, medical check-up and stuff. all in all, it should be less than a year.
you can still visit him. and it's not any different if he is in the air force. |
