What are bigger issues concerning this country other than immigration?

Immigration isn't even in the top 10. It's just what's politically popular. Remember when the war on drugs was the number one priority (under Regan). Well, drug use hasn't gone down.
In most cities in the country, construction companies can't find enough workers. Farms can't find enough people to pick their produce. We need MORE immigrants, and an expanded guest worker policy to bring in the labor force that our country NEEDS.
War in Iraq.
Terrorism threat.
National Debt
Trade Deficit
Curruption in Congress
Global Warming/Energy

Since you did ask.... how about terrorists cleverly disguised as illegal aliens from Central and South America coming in across our porous Southern border so they can infiltrate into our cities and kill millions of us legal, Red, White, and Blue Americans? That would be a big issue for me. |

Not necessarily in that order. Illegal immigration causes a rise in taxes and the lowering of wages. Without illegal immigration (which is unnecessary tax spending) we could take care of our elderly, veterans and homeless, our poor could get better care, with lower taxes (more kept for ourselves from each paycheck) more of us could afford health insurance and health care. |

I'm sure that there are larger issues, I can think of a lot right now, but for people who suffer from the effects of illegal immigration...it's HUGE issue. The war in the Iraq is obviously a larger concern, but for the people affected by illegals, it's not. Iraq is far away, and illegal immigration is in peoples face. It's much easier to notice an issue that has an effect on your everyday.

Immigration looms big because of the breaking of laws and being in USA Illegally. It falls in with law and order. Also homeland security issues, anyone can enter USA, even terrorist, which leaves folks insecure, along with cheap labor, which is also an injustice to immigrants. |
