Marrying an American Man - information required.

Hi, my friend and I have known each other many years and want to marry. He is American, I am Aussie. He lives in USA I am in Oz but we see each other frequently but not often enough of course. The idea is that he will come here to live, if he can by law do so. Can anyone tell me what is required for this to happen? How long can he be here before he is eligible for our public HealthCare. Can he apply for private healthcare immediately. Does he need to have a medical? Perhaps you know of a source here in Oz who handles this type of thing. ANY informatuion would be greatly appreciated.
