Marrying in the United States?

I am currently living in the United Kingdom and my fiancee lives in the United States. We have started considering marriage as we have been together for a long time and both feel we are ready for a comitment like that.

I was wondering would it be possible to get married in the United States without me being a citizen if i just travelled over there on a Visa?

Also would it be easier to get married in the United States or here in England?

We are getting married because of love not just to get me or her citizenship. We want to be able to live together and are working on that but it dosent affect the marriage decision

Getting married in the United States is simple.

As long as your fiancee is a US citizen you should have no problem getting a fiance visa. It should only take about 10 to 14 months from start to finish.

You cannot come as a tourist and get married if you intend to stay. If you do that you'd have to go back to the UK and have your US citizen spouse file a spouse visa for you. That will take LONGER than a fiance visa.

Okay here goes...
I tried to email you privately, as I did not want the grief I know I will get for this answer.
In June 2006, my then boyfriend came over to the states from the UK, for a visit. No visa, just as a tourist. The longer he was here it became clear to us that we didnt want to be seperated again (I had spent 6 months in the UK with him late 2005 early 2006) So we got married. Hired a good immigration attorney. Come to find out, since we had already bit the bullet and got married, we could file papers to adjust his status. Which we did. He came over in June. We got married in July. Filed to adjust his status in early August. He had his status adjusted in January. We were scared to death when we went into for our interview with immigration. The immigration lady asked a few questions, then said she was approving it right then and there. We walked out with papers in hand, and actual green card came in 2 weeks time. (oh he had to have his biometrics captured in November)

So it is possible to get married while he comes over to visit and then be sucessful in adjusting his status. I know immigration will tell you it isnt possible, and that he will need to go back home then have you file..blah blah blah. We are living prof that it can be done.

You must come to US on K1 Fiance(e) visa petitioned by your US Citizen fiancee to get married. Otherwise, you will be violating your other visa condition.
