Move from Canada to England?

My boyfriend of 7 years has recently decided he wants to move to England. I really don't want to sell our home and all our stuff and I really don't want to leave my family, we are really close. I am so sad right now and I don't know what to do. Can anyone from England tell me why its so great there? I guess I need a reason to want to go... even though i really don't want to. Any reply would be appreciated.

No he doesn't have a job there, we both have jobs here, I work as a receptionist and he works in the Parts Department at a busy car dealership.

I would at least take a visit to England. I was stationed overseas for 18 years and got to see most of England as well. I absolutely loved the time I spent there, but I wouldn't want to live there. As an Anglo-Saxon I was intrigued by the history that my ancestors shared over there. So many good things to see and do, just like so many other places around the world.
But visiting and living somewhere are different all together. As a visitor, one gets to enjoy the good stuff and not worry about the pitfalls associated with living somewhere else, i.e., taxes, language barriers (if applicable), different customs, work, skills, pay, health coverage etc. etc. |

Does he have a job there or something? I went with my hubby, sold everything we owned, moved out of the country only to find 4 years later we moved back. Had to start all over with nothing. Personally I wouldn't do it. Plus your not married, maybe tha'ts a good thing. Don't go, let him go if he wants. |

Check prices in England.
The exchange rate is, I believe, $1.75 to the pound, but the pound buys about the same in the UK as the dollar in Canada. |

Why not let him move and see how he likes it. You stay in Canada and wait it out, if you want to - you might find better things to do than wait for him. I suspect that the England of his fantasy is not the England of reality and a few months there will open his eyes. |
