If you go the K-1 fiance path, he will be asked to supply a police certificate and any court records for his interview. Crimes of moral terpitude can mean a denial of the visa initially depending on the certain factors - the type of criminal offense, how many convictions and how long ago etc. You can read more on those ineligible for a visa in the first link. Having a conviction does not mean he will not be granted a visa but it can make the process much longer as you have to wait for a waiver to be approved. There is also no guarantee of waiver approval.

He ought to be welcomed, we have a criminal as a president.

It all depends what he was convicted for and how long ago.

It may, especially if it is a drug related offense. But check with the local consulate to be sure.

It probibly will.
My mate wanted to to go to florida to work with a family friend ,& he was refused.
He had a GBH RECORD.

It would depend on what type of crime he was convicted for. Certain crimes can exclude a person ever from entering the US

sunshine_today
Honestly, why would the US want a convicted felon coming over? We have enough already.

But, it most likely depends on what type of offense it was. If it was a violent crime, I don't think so. If it was something like embezzlement or a "white collar" crime, maybe. Check on the US Immigration and Naturalization website.

Mother
We have plenty of criminals here already. You should come and leave him there. Sounds harsh but why should we let more criminal work and live here when we have far to many criminals looking for work who are U.S. citizens.

yes of course it will efect with a criminal record no chance!its hard to get visa for here... we r full anyway.

Move to the European Continent. It is a mistake to move to a criminal Enterprise if you can avoid it.

If it's a non violent, non drug misdemeanour, way in the past, probably won't matter. Drug misdemeanour, still possible but difficult. A felony of any type, not going to happen. Have you considered Canada?

Lawyer
yes and it will

it really depends on why he has a criminal record, and how long ago the offence was. i'm sorry to say that yes, it will probably affect your chances of getting in. best thing u can do is look up on the internet how to go about getting a visa / work permit. it should give u a list of rules & regulations on there. u would both stand a better chance of getting in if u have good qualifications in things such as teaching or nursing - jobs that they have a shortage of people for.

This seemingly harmless, and apparently simple question opens a veritable 'Pandora's' can of worms.

It all hinges on the record, for example, anything involving Boy George is pretty much a no-no from the get-go. By counterpoint, a few years ago Sid Vicious would have plonked you right in the 'Wait here for the next flight to Gitmo' queue, but since Ole Blue Eyes croaked out on 'My Way' for the final finale, Sid's fortunes have taken a rather unexpected , and lucrative, reversal, posthumously, of course. So if your b/f is worried about that staircase entry by Sid on a dvd or video, just relax and enjoy the ride.

Personally I would be more concerned about the way things ended up for Sid and Nancy, which might portend rather too accurately the sort of things that can occur to Brit babes in the hoods in 'The land of the Brave'.

Good luck.

definately not. sorry but that's how it is.

Unlike this stupid country the USA DO stick by the rules, so no , u can go , he'll have to stay, and thats a fact, so don't waste money on trying to get visas. Of course it will. Why would any country want to take on a convicted criminal. They've got enough of their own.

Oh, he'll blend right in. You don't need bother with all that paperwork, just travel to Mexico and inquire there. Once in the United States, no employers really check your legal status. Osama Bin Laden could be working for a fortune five-hundred corporation. Politicians want to build a wall just to make it LOOK like they are against ILLEGAL IMMIGRATION. Come right in! You even speak English, what are you worried about.

?
Yea, stay there

Afi
Certainly it will...but does he have to tell them?

I am convicted of a section 20, wreckless GBH, and i didnt go to prison, i just had community service, 1000 pound fine, a suspended sentance for 2 years and my record will remain till 2018, i commited it when i was 17, i was given the punishment in crown court, we i was 18, i am now 21, and im quite possibly the nicest guy i know, someone attacked me and i bit someone in self defence who was twice my size, it was my first and only offence, and i had over 100 character referances saying im am a genuine character with a gentle kind personality, and im interested in moving to new york, and my two questions are can i enter the U.S on a perminant basis? also i have diabetes, and i want to know the procedure on gaining medication, the cost or if its free because of my income, i basicly have nothing with enough money to move there, a couple of grand, and i want a few tips and hints, without the redneck remarks from the die hard americans, so please some constructive comments because i cant find any specific infomations online.
