My boyfriend is in jail with an immigration hold. Will he be deported?

He is here LEGALLY. He was arrested for assault and battery and when i went to bail him out they told me i couldn't because ICE has placed and immigration hold on him. Does this mean he will be deported? What will happen after his court appearance with the county? I've never known anyone that has to deal with jail or immigration before so I don't know what's going on at all! Thank you!

It's too soon to tell. If he has no other convictions, then you'll have to wait and see what happens with the assault and battery charge. If he's convicted of it, there might be a prison sentence, or just a fine or probation. Once the police, the court and the prison are done with him, ICE will evaluate the available data to decide what to do with him.

If ICE believes that he's deportable based upon his conviction(s), they'll issue a Notice to Appear for him to appear before an Immigration Judge. The final decision in his case will be made by the Immigration Judge. Obviously, there will be a lot to consider, and we do not have full data at this point.

All we know right now is that he's in trouble with the cops and could be in trouble with ICE. Plan to be in mystery for a while.

Even if he has a Green Card a conviction for assault and battery would be enough to get him striped of his Green Card and deported. Most likely he does not have a Green Card if the hold has been placed upon him prior to trial.

Yes, he could very well be deported. His actions of assault will be looked upon in a very negative manner. If he is on a Immigration hold he will remain in Custody after his arraignment.

people like him are the ones who give good immigrants a bad name, why come to the US if you're going to be a criminal. Im sick of it, yes he can be deported.

He may have committed other crimes you don't know about. Perhaps in another country and they will want to try him in their court of law. Don't waste your time and money on a violent man. I know that may sound heartless to you right now. Later you will realize what might have happened to you and your family because of your association with him. Be smart.

How do u know that he is legal did he tell u that he was? and if he did tell u that why do u believe it? he probably ought to learn to keep his hands to himself what was he fighting about? did somebody steal the dingle balls out of the back window of his troca
