my wife is from Ukraine, if she takes my daughter (when she is 5)
out of the UK for a long period of time ie 2-3 years when she is legally
supposed to attend school here in the UK should we register her(my daughter) for citizenship abroad or can a request be made for leave?
She would attend a school in Ukraine.

If you have given your wife permission to take your daughter to Ukraine, then it is not a problem. There are thousands of Brits living abroad whose children attend school in another country. As long as your child is attending school in Ukraine, it won't be an issue. |

If you are both in agreement that the child should go to the Ukraine with her mother, there is no issue there.
Before your child turns 5, the School Admissions section will send out an application form to you asking you to name the school(s) you would like your child to attend when she transfers to Reception Class. Even if you are planning to leave the country before she goes into Reception, you should still fill in the form & secure a school place for her just in case your plans change. Even if a place is allocated to her, if you decide to go ahead & take her the Ukraine, all you need do is notify the school/School Admissions, she won't be taking up the place. In British law, the onus is on the parent to arrange the child's education, most parents opt to send their child to school but if the child isn't in the country, you're not under the same obligation.
If your wife & child take up residence in the Ukraine, they will have abide by Ukrainian law. |
