Okay, I am doing something very special for a friend. He has been living here for about three years and has his green card and what not. He wants his driver's license and everything and says he needs Identification to go to school here. I am at a loss for where to find the steps that he needs to do to do all of this, so is there any place where I can find out how he can get full citizenship and get all of this stuff? Any help at all will be great

If he's got a green card, then he just needs to go down to the state DMV and apply for a drivers license. They'll want to see some identification, but it doesn't have to be US identification (except the green card of course)- his passport and birth certificate from his country of origin will probably suffice. |

Citizenship is not required for a driver's license or to attend school. If he has a green card then he is considered a resident alien and is allowed to live just as any other U.S. citizen does, with the exception he cannot get a U.S. passport until he becomes a citizen.

If he has a green card, he should go to the drivers' license office, whatever it's called in your state, and get a drivers' license or state ID there.
Also, get a social security number at the SS office.
He needs to bring his green card and his passport to both.
If he's been living in the US for 5 years, legally!, he can apply for US citizenship. |

well, a green card is a form of identification, however, what sort of ids is the school willing to accept? If he has a green card, he should be able to get a driver's license. and he should have a passport from his original country. if he's had a green card for 3 years, then he could apply for naturalization after another two years. check out uscis.gov for more information and forms on naturalization. |

are you sure he has a green card?
because all he needs is to go to MVD...does he have a licence?
and for school? with his green card he can attend.
what sort of school does he want to attend?

Sounds a bit off to me...
If he has been here 5 years with a
Legal Green Card and no Social Security
number...something is very wrong...
How was he supporting himself ???
Who is his Sponsor for his Green Card ???
They have all that information...
He already knows what he has to do...
and he should have all the paperwork
telling him what to do...???
Be very careful you don't get caught
up in an immigration Scam...
If he is Legal why doesn't he contact
the INS they will help him out...
I know INS sent him to get a Social
Security Number the first day he arrived here.
They did me...
