My great grandmother and her older brother?

Were released from a german work camp (concentration camp) at the ages of 13 and 16. They worked their way to America and took the proper legal steps to become american citizens after watching their entire families die, spending nearly a year in a concentration camp, and being released with nothing and nowhere to go. If they managed all of this, what are some excuses illegal immigrants have for not coming here through the proper channels?

J, they did not come as refugees. They actually waited two years and worked their butts off. When Henry was 18 they immigrated here, and he basically claimed my great grandmother as a charge of his.

Did your grandmother and her brother come to the US as refugees? I'm not saying illegal immigrants have an excuse, but I would think that with all the visa requirements that we have now, it would probably be virtually impossible for a 13 and 16 year old (especially if they're from a third world country) to come to the US, no matter how willing they are to go through all the legal channels. |
