Nearly 200,000 Homeless Veterans In The United States And 500 In Utah, But A Foreign Refugee Family Gets A Fre?

Nearly 200,000 Homeless Veterans In The United States And 500 In Utah, But A Foreign Refugee Family Gets A Free Van And Rent-Free House In Salt Lake ...Where are our priorities?
According to the National Coalition for Homeless Veterans, the number of homeless veterans in the United States is nearly 200,000 (VA estimates 154,000). At least 500 of them are in Utah. Of course, many of them are transient, so it is difficult to accurately and consistently track these people.

Yet despite this problem, a refugee family who just arrived in the United States has been given a free van and free rent on a conventional single-family home (until they get on their feet financially). Report and news video from KSL Channel 5:
The U. S. Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) says the nation's homeless veterans are mostly males (4 % are females). The vast majority are single, most come from poor, disadvantaged communities, 45% suffer from mental illness, and half have substance abuse problems. America’s homeless veterans have served in World War II, Korean War, Cold War, Vietnam War, Grenada, Panama, Lebanon, Operation Enduring Freedom (Afghanistan), Operation Iraqi Freedom, or the military’s anti-drug cultivation efforts in South America. Forty-seven percent of homeless veterans served during the Vietnam Era. More than 67% served our country for at least three years and 33% were stationed in a war zone.

That's right - at least one-third of them actually put themselves in harm's way. Yet instead of showing gratitude, we allow a foreign refugee family to take precedence over them. We can find money to send the kids of illegal aliens to college at in-state tuition rates, but we can't find money to guarantee every honorably-discharged veteran at least an associates degree at public expense, which might mitigate the homelessness (current service members have to elect and contribute towards their own college fund while in service). Where are our priorities?

I've tried to explain this before. Let me try again. Your government hates you. Businesses in America hate you. Both of them want you dead and gone. They want to replaced you with a much more subservient race of people. IE the messicons. The messicons have been slaves in messico for ever. Messico is a VERY rich country. Messico has the second most billionaires in the world. Yet most messicons are dirt poor. Why because the average messicon is a peasant who won't stand up and fight for their rights. That servant mentality is why both big government and big business want them here and you Americans gone. If they cant murder you, if they can't jail you, if they can't enslave you in some other way they will just flood your country with the race who they can enslave. And yes business from ford to yahoo are all in on it as well as both political parties. It's hard but that's the truth.

Refugees get a lot of freebies and special treatment.

Luckily there are not that many of them coming in every year - comparatively speaking of course since one is one too many.

We also spend millions subsidizing legal immigration too. The measly fees immigrants pay do not even come close to paying for the vast bureaucracy of our immigration system.

Taxpayers rejoice for we are actually paying taxes to further overpopulate this country. Then we get to pay more for evey other commodity item too!

I know a SOMALIAN refugee now who has five kids under 5 years of age.

They get everything handed to them.

Hey I agree that this is certainly a nice gesture, but you never see any stories or gratifying handouts for the honest hard working Americans that are dealing with the very same tough times. It's pretty sad that one has to be either a refugee or an illegal alien to have any special treatments in this country.

Citizens always come last.
Wait until the Gitmo prisoners get released in the US. They already said that we will have to help them get on their feet and adjust to life here.
I love giving my money to support criminals and those who don't belong here.

Because an anonymous donor gave a gift food, a van and a rent free home through Catholic Community Services and the set up allows that they may stay in the home rent and utility-bill free as long as needed to get established.
You then equate this donation as a slap in the face to homeless veterans.
It seems what I hear from you is nothing more than talk, you complain and do not look into what it is you are complaining about.

Did you search for programs for homeless veterans? I do not think so the first eight links given are programs and aid from the government.

Many answers here make the statement that illegals and foreigners are given fist consideration and that homeless veterans are a "oh yeah" thought at the last minute.

First look at this homeless veteran who has little and is ill, yet his eyes saw others needs over his own.

This vet "was presented with keys to a renovated house." "The house is also furnished, with other items being donated."

About the Catholic Community Services in Salt Lake City. Well,

"Catholic Community Services of Utah"

"Homeless and hungry, fleeing their homes because of persecution, fighting addiction--these are some of the faces of CATHOLIC COMMUNITY SERVICES OF UTAH. For over 60 years, Catholic Community Services of Utah has empowered families and individuals of all races and religious backgrounds to realize their full potential by supplying the basic necessities of life--food, clothing and shelter. CCS offers programs that feed the hungry, welcome the refugee, help the immigrant and serve the troubled amongst us."

But even they helped 40 Veterans moved off the streets and into CCS St. Mary's Home for Men.

The state of Utah caters to illegals, and foreigners.

edit: Chief, not to burst your bubble, but I have seen the Catholic churches turn away the homeless, and the hungry. Especially the single adults.
