No Last Name on Birth Certificate-US Passport?

Hi All,
We decided to give our new born just the first name and no Last name(Surname). Will there be any issue in her US Passport? What will be written in the surname ?Will there be any legal issues?

Do you realize how much grief that will cause her? having to constantly explain why she has no last name. I doubt many people will believe her. Pulled over by a cop with no last name. Sounds like a one way trip tp suspicion ville. Unless you are Cher or Madonna it doesn't work. And even they have last names

If your state is willing to issue birth certificate with just one name then you're fine.
